Drama Digest

Tomozaki Fumiya is an expert gamer; however, he finds it difficult to blend into real-life circumstances. Unlike gameplay, the real world does not have any written rules or regulations and does not guarantee success for events. The real world felt impossible for him. But like any weak player, Tomozaki also needed guidance. He takes help from Aoi Hinami, and learns strategies to experience the real world.

The Feel-Good Part

It is interesting to watch how the story unfolds and Tomozaki’s character changes as he learns all the guidelines of socializing. The anime teaches the biggest life lessons, which say that life is the most significant game of all. In the game called ‘life’, mere rules don’t apply, and there’s no assurance of victory. Tomozaki was failing in all the hurdles put before him and got lost in the virtual world where he could have it his way. Tomozaki’s growth process for each episode is mesmerizing to watch.

The Disappointing Factor

While the show is about Tomozaki’s social character development, the show did not have any proper character growth. They mainly focused on how to socialize, and ignored, showing why people have social anxiety.

In-Depth Analysis

Tomozaki was one of Japan’s best players in an online game called Attack Families, also known as “Tackfam.” Despite being so popular in the gaming world, his social life was a failure. He could not make friends or socialize in high school. He blamed the mechanics and systems of the real world and the unfair rules that made him a low-grade player and forced him to give up. Tomozaki soon discovers Aoi Hinami, who is also a top player in Tackfam but is also popular, brilliant, and has an excellent social life. Aoi was the complete opposite of Tomozaki. It surprised Aoi to know Tomozaki’s condition and how he was not good at anything besides Tackfam. She guided him throughout “the greatest game of all” called ‘Life.’ With Aoi’s guidance, Tomozaki excels in making social interactions and advances in the game of life.

Star Power

The show is a tv version of a light novel series written by Yuki Yaku and directed by Shinsuke Yanagi. The popular Gen Satou voiced Tomozaki and Ikumi Hasegawa was the VA behind Minami. Both of them did a splendid job.

Overall Opinion

Overall, it is a wonderful show to watch for the growth and development of social skills. People who suffer from socializing often and fear of going out can relate to the character. It is an excellent comfort show and does not need much investment.
