Drama Digest

Yuki Shinomiya is 21 years old and bereft of any friends. His loneliness pushes him to fill his days with multiple part-time jobs. His days are utterly similar to one another and charmless until that one night when he encounters a strange man sitting in his room. He finds the man in a wounded or stabbed condition and rushes him to the hospital.

Once the detective arrives at the hospital, the man then introduces himself as Yuki Shinomiya while accusing the real Yuki Shinomiya of being the one who stabbed him. The entire episode forces Yuki to run away from the hospital as a fugitive. Then, he meets Zoka, a mysterious woman and, most importantly, a Hiru,  who requests him to avenge her father’s death in exchange for staying at her house. At her place, Yuki meets Kara, aka the legendary Hiru, that lives only for revenge. The mysterious encounter between the three will keep you hooked as the events following are hard to imagine.

The Feel-Good Part

The storyline of Hiru has been immaculately executed, which makes the mini-series genuinely addictive. Especially after the meeting with Zoka, the series takes an intense turn.

Moreover, shout out to girl power as we see a female detective is one of the most realistic feminist characters as opposed to the otherwise gimmicky portrayal of overtly headstrong and non-compromising women characters.

The Disappointing Factor

Even though the story is gripping, it is doubtful whether the same could be said about the dramatic plotline. Spoilers alert, you will stumble upon mind-numbing plot holes, which make you question the overall execution.

In-Depth Analysis

The chemistry between Yuki and Zoka is fantastic and keeps the boat of the series afloat. The plot does make it hard to watch at times, but these two will never disappoint you in delivering a convincing act of the unconvincing story. The complexity of thought can be indeed observed, which adds to the entertainment aspect of it.

Star Power

Sakaguchi Kentaro as Kara makes you wonder about the grey lines of a character’s build. You would definitely enjoy how his presence completely transforms the entire sentiment of the room.

Overall Opinion

In simple words, if you love sharp edge twists and turns and can ignore the aching plot holes, this series is the right fit for you. Keep a close eye on each character as suspense hovers around all of them.
