Drama Digest

The age of Tatsu (Hiroshi Tamaki) is 38. He used to be a legendary yakuza known as “Immortal Dragon” due to how feared he was. He wed Miku and left the yakuza. Tatsu afterwards settled down to be a homemaker. He immerses himself in housekeeping.

The Feel-Good Part

Through the use of a slice-of-life storytelling technique, the yakuza and family genres are combined in a quirky, humorous way. The drama’s simplicity and enjoyment come from the fact that the only true purpose is to follow Tatsu as he goes about his daily life as a former yakuza turned househusband. Despite how cheesy and strange it may sound, it was fun to see and well worth the time.

The Disappointing Factor

Forget it if you’re hoping for any sort of meaningful plot, story, or even character development! You can find the acting part slightly cheesy.

In-Depth Analysis

Immortal Tatsu, a renowned yakuza famed for using a lead pipe to defeat a rival gang on his own, is a moniker that both ruthless criminals and hardcore police officers are known to fear. He reappears shortly after his abrupt departure with a modest alteration in his line of work. Tatsu has given up aggression and is attempting to earn a decent living as a house husband now that he is wearing an apron. Tatsu discovers that being a house husband has its own obstacles, from the battleground known as grocery sales to failures in the kitchen, while adjusting to routine domestic responsibilities. Even though he leads a calm life, misunderstanding seem to follow him everywhere. Gokushufudou follows the ex-day-to-day yakuza’s activities as he transitions from his dangerous prior life to becoming a stay-at-home husband.

Star Power

Tamaki Hiroshi completely hammed it up on television as a yakuza house husband determined to create a well-run home for his small family in this episode, which was pure comedy. It’s hilarious to watch how everyone responds to his antics as he goes about his job because of his completely gangsta approach to everything. His reactions on his face are priceless! With their own amusing theme songs and cartoon personalities, the supporting cast in this story are complete comedic caricatures.

Overall Opinion

Each episode of this drama is like a different ride at an amusement park, so you can either watch the entire thing in one sitting like a day-tripper riding every ride, or you may take your time and watch an episode or two here and there as an emotion or diversion.
