Drama Digest

Goro Akechi, a private detective in Tokyo, has a workplace close to Omotesando (Tomoya Nakamura). He really loves nice meals. He enjoys fine dining a lot. Goro Akechi must consume delectable dishes three times every day. Goro Akechi believes that having three filling meals each day is important. A client enters Goro Akechi’s private investigation firm. The client is a mother who stays at home. She looks to Goro Akechi for aid since she suspects her husband is having an affair.

The Feel-Good Part

The positives of the drama are the acting, which is very strong, the characters, which are all likeable–even the villains– and the cases which I think are meant to be taken more as social commentaries on contemporary Japanese society than as mysteries meant to have a resolution.

The Disappointing Factor

The main character’s conflicted intentions and the villain’s overly sympathetic nature are drawbacks. Yet, when their seeming immortality is used for comic effect, this is made up for. I also think that the archetype of the villain in Japanese entertainment is one that Westerners might not understand. I think of her more as a fox-spirit trickster than as a grounded, actual person. Even though I am neither Japanese nor particularly literary, I do watch a lot of anime, and I believe I have seen characters like this before. Because of that, I was able to keep my mouth shut when I saw some of the things she does. from a Shoujo-Josei manga adaptation Some of the logic is a touch shaky, and some of the phrases come off as a little corny (again, the source). Overall, it works well as a diversion. It’s a shame that some of the harsher elements of the manga were left out.

In-Depth Analysis

This drama follows Goro Akechi. He may appear to be a food critic or someone from the food industry. This is because he is crazy for food and always has to have tasty dishes for all three meals, and food forms a part of his obsession for it as he goes crazy for it and believes it is important for an individual. However, as outward appearances are deceptive, this applies in this case too. He is actually a private detective in Tokyo. One day, a client reaches out to him. She is a housewife. She belches that her husband is having an affair behind her back. So she asks Goro to resolve this so that she can get some peace of mind..

Star Power

Nakamura Tomoya, who plays Akechi Goro; Koshiba Fuka, who plays Kobayashi Ichigo; and Koike Eiko, who plays Maria Magdalena or Mary, form the main cast of the show and give performances ranging from good to average. Kitamura Yukiya, who plays Katono Toru, Sato Kanta, who plays Takahashi Tatsuomi, Tomita Miu, who plays Momoko, and Miura Asami, who plays Kurukkuu [a phone virtual assistant], form the supporting cast of the show and give performances that are okay.

Overall Opinion

You can watch this drama if you are an avid fan of the novel it is adapted from, or else it is better to skip out on this one.
