With these three friends dealing with various criminal enterprises, they must also deal face to face with old grudges and grievances. What will the trident do now? And what all from the past will be uncovered?  A crime thriller to surely keep you on the edge of the seat till the end with its heart gripping storyline and cliffhangers.

The Feel-Good Part

The drama is a perfect fusion of crime, thriller and mystery. The story depicts the journey of three aging officers who are on the verge of retirement but are drawn back to front line operation due to the sudden death of Xia. The show successfully portrays the tiring life and hardships of police officers. The good part is that the story is realistic and shows all the ins and outs of how police work in real life in China. From dealing with the criminals to uncovering the truth, the story has left no loopholes. The trident once again is back with their old school methods to bring down the criminals.

The Disappointing Factor

The drama is quite long with forty two episodes running; the viewers may lose interest at some point of time. The viewers might find the drama is dragging with more complexities in the story and give up watching the show as mostly people prefer to watch the drama with fewer episodes and short stories. So, if you are not a fan of long running drama, then most probably this is not your cup of tea.

In-Depth Analysis

The drama is based on the novel of the same name ‘Trident’ written by Public Security writer Lu Zheng. The story explores the stress and hardships in the life of policemen. The way we imagine the work of a police officer as cool and stylish is going to change after watching this drama which shows the reality beyond one’s ordinary perception of policemen. The drama focuses on personalities of each character, their families, and their flaws and how they together as one overcome the obstacles. It wonderfully fuses doses of humor, suspense and lessons on duty, honor and friendship in one storyline. The cinematography and acting of the actors is up to the mark and the story doesn’t lose its essence at any point and successfully catches the attention of all the viewers.

Star Power

The story is built on three pillars which are played excellently by the actors. The three pillars of the drama are Cui Tie Jun known as a ‘Big Back’ and skilled at investigation of the cases and reasoning, Xu Guo Zhu also known as ‘big stick’ who is good at chasing and catching criminals and Pan Jiang Hai also known as ‘big sprayer’ who is good at interrogation and tracking information.

Overall Opinion

For all the crime drama lovers, the trident is a must watch Chinese drama of 2020. With just the perfect balance and blend of characters with each other and crime with a pinch of sweet moments of friendships, families and flashbacks, this drama has successfully proved itself to be no ordinary police drama.
