Drama Digest
The story follows a rush of the first love of twin sisters, a resigned separation, and unwavering companionship. Hua Mu Jin was brought up during the unsettled era of the five dynasties and ten states. As a child, she and her twin sister Hua Jin Xiu were sold to the Yuan family as enslaved people. The sisters, with other children, Yu Fei Yan, Song Ming Lei, and Yai Bi Ying, are sent on the road. The five make a promise of friendship to care for each other. To thrive in the new environment, Hua Mu Jin throws herself to work hard to build a better future for her brothers and sisters. She uses the methods inherited from her father and is sure of her intelligence to help the Yuan family rise to glory. Four men enter her life with talents and position. She looks at Song Ming Lei as her older brother, Yuan Fei Jue is pure and loving, Duan Yue Rong is androgynous, and Yuan Fei Bai is the love of her life.
The Feel-Good Part
The second female leads character was written well in depth. The story didn’t entirely on the main leads. The pacing was according to the story. The clothes were pretty.
The Disappointing Factor
There were many illogical characters. The chemistry between the male and female lead was not satisfying. The rape scenes were unpleasing to watch. The plotline and story were messy as they contained too many characters.
In-Depth Analysis
The plot and subplot presented both good and evil characters. The initial episodes were good and seemed to be remarkable. The man lead was stoic. The storyline was disturbing. Many complications and misunderstandings were left unsolved. The romance between the characters was dull. The female lead finds herself with the male lead. The cross-dressing was fun in the beginning but felt draggy. The female lead needs to be more ambitious and motivated.
Star Power
The actors tried their best to give life to their characters. The character’s lives were entwined in the story. Kai Xuan and Mao Xiao Hui did great as twins.
Overall Opinion
This is a great drama and has some insane twists. There is also a hidden backstory in the novel.
