The Feel-good Part

The play incorporates complete commercial elements, making the plot look tense without losing humor, the characters are unique without losing the essence of life, and there are many laughs in details and lines, which resonate with the audience.

The Disappointing Factor

Nothing is disappointing about this series.

In-depth Analysis

Li Xiaodong and Chen Feng are a 1980s couple with no car, no property, and no children. Li Xiaodong is a mechanic and has great car repairing skills. However, his earnings dropped several times, yet he still keeps his commitment and works at a car repair business with outdated equipment. Chen Feng’s career is taking off. When given a choice between work advancement and having children, she firmly states that she “doesn’t have children for promotion,” expecting that she and her husband may have enough financial resources to plan to have children again. As a result of the child’s birth, Chen Feng and his mother-in-law experienced many problems at home. Li Xiaodong, who was going through a rough patch in his life, suffered silently.

Star Power

Chen Sicheng plays the male protagonist, Li Xiaodong, who is dealing with a family problem. Li Caihua takes on female protagonist Chen Feng. She is a lovely, youthful, and attractive modern female white-collar worker.  The supporting actors also did a good job.

Overall Opinion

It portrays numerous women’s diverse understandings and experiences of family, marriage, and the next generation, demonstrating the emotional “generation gap” between today’s youth and the preceding generation, resulting in a sequence of family disputes. The drama focuses on the intricacies of life, showing the audience the unfathomable loneliness and grief that lurk beneath the supposedly glossy lives of the people from fashion and modeling. It not only makes the character’s appearance trendier but also portrays the character’s life’s imperfections.
