Drama Digest

Five employees of a Chinese-funded company, in Africa’s nation M, were abducted by local illegal armed forces. Shen Yinghua, the consular protection officer of country N with considerable rescue expertise, was promptly dispatched to nation M by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ consular protection department to assist in rescue efforts. Guo Hu, Liu Zixin and the ambassador Bi of the embassy in Country M used diplomatic channels to risk their lives with the help of military and political authorities in Country M, as well as local tribe elders. Despite difficulties and hurdles, 5 captives were successfully rescued. Shen Yinghua was then transported back to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ consular protection centre. He led the action squad in the rescue of peacekeepers, and the hunt for missing students studying abroad, and successfully convinced Xiao Lifang, a Hongtong member, to return to Hongtong, particularly during national evacuation operations. Regardless of his safety, he evacuated more than 20,000 people from L nation safely and without casualties in China.

The Feel Good Part

“Overseas Rescue” is a screenplay invention of “one plus one is more than two,” and the entire play is full of the iron and blood. It has all the elements of drama, yet it is far too personal. It contains teary-eyed parts, but the massive amount of emotional suffering across all scenes engrosses you to watch for more and battle for it alongside the fictitious characters.

The Disappointing Factor

The incidents portrayed in “Foreign Rescue” were typical, depicting the actions of genuine diplomats in overseas consular protection who adhered to the principle of “national supremacy, people supremacy.” However, several sections of it were sugar-coated, and the lack of rawness in the story was very obvious, giving the impression that there is a gap in the entire narrative.

In-Depth Analysis

Only events based on true stories can elicit the most empathy from the viewers. The viewer can comprehend this group of people and sense the hard work and dedication of these diplomats via “Overseas Rescue.” Actors Liang Danni and Sun Dachuan learned from genuine diplomats to speak more, do more acting research, and give their all in the performance of “Overseas Rescue.”

Star Power

The ensemble does justice to the characters portrayed here. The empathy can be felt across the two-dimensional screen with the perfect amount.

Overall Opinion

It is worth watching.
