Drama Digest

The title says it all. Greed is such a powerful emotion that it can eat up the tiniest of animals such as ants. But if the ant bites, then the sting is felt for long.

The series is set in the nineteen seventies and the main character is Wing Muk Tong. In that era, Hong Kong is developing and fast. But Tong moves from Hong Kong to Thailand after his father’s sad misfortune.

In Thailand, he joins the stock exchange as controller where he slowly rises up. He meets an influential person in Tong Ho Fung who further helps him navigate the complex world of finance. Tong is greedy and evil man with no repentance.

Three young men Edwin Siu, Tony Hung and Anthony Ho have dreams and their lives are affected by the Tong’s decision in the stock market.

How does Tong’s moves impact the investors especially these three young men and what happens is the basis of the series?

The Feel Good Part

Brilliant performances and some hard-hitting scenes. The series showcases Hong Kong, Thailand and the world of finance in the 1970s.

The Disappointing Factor

The script is a typical of Wall Street evil so it is a repeated story line.

In-Depth Analysis

While the series has some tiresome moments yet it is still gripping to watch. The character of Tong is evil personified. One wonders if people such as him exist in the real world and they do. He is absolutely devoid of sentiments or emotions.

Star Power

Eddie Cheung as Tong is fabulous and the other members of cast have also done a good job. But the series belongs to Tong and his wily actions.

Overall Opinion

If you like stock market and the world of finance, then the series is for you.
