Drama Digest

The drama revolves around two tribes – the winged tribe and the human tribe. The storyline focuses on the love story of Feng Ruche and Xue Jingkong. Feng Ruche is the princess of the Yu tribe and the only child of Emperor Feng Tianyi and Yi Fuling. At the same time, Xue Jingkong is a pre-eminent wizard of the great plains of Lanzhou. Their fate was amalgamated ever since Feng Ruche’s birth. When she was born, the flower god casts a certain death on her, and the only way to save her was through a drop of Xue Jingkong’s blood. Several years later, the emperor is dead, and the tribe is in a vulnerable situation. Many mighty forces are trying to seize the powerful position. They are looking for Feng Ruche (the golden-winged princess) and plan on holding her hostage to attain what they desire. While fighting against all of them and protecting the throne, Feng Ruche falls in love with Xue Jingkong.

The Feel-Good Part

The story is refreshing and the most significant plus point – there is no ridiculous, predictable and unnecessary love triangle. The female lead is shown to be intelligent and headstrong. She is feisty and confident. She will charm you through her character. The interaction between the main leads will leave you amazed. The dialogues are done beautifully. The drama has a very exquisite poetic touch to itself. Not to forget, how the maker didn’t all forget that the male lead was a wizard, and hence, you often see him using his magical powers. Therefore, the fantasy and adventure aspect of the drama is just outstanding.

The Disappointing Part

The show also provides an in-depth explanation about the villainess’ back story, and that somehow ends up kind of justifying everything that she does. Hence, in the end, you can’t even hate her entirely but rather feel empathetic towards her. You will have no one you can blame for everything that went wrong. Although the story isn’t boring yet, it somewhat lacks consistency. The end isn’t wholly satisfying; it’s instead kind of bittersweet.

In-Depth Analysis

It is the second season of the booming Chinese show, Novoland: The Castle In The Sky. The drama is set in the same fantasy world as that of the first season. Although the story is a continuation of the first season, there are all-new characters and plots. Seeing that it is a fantasy romance drama with 30 plus episodes, many people might think it’s another one of your dull, slow Chinese historical dramas, which often keeps becoming impossible to bear. But that is not how it is. Novoland: The Castle In The Sky 2 is instead a great drama. The show has everything, from romance to comedy, fantasy to adventure. It is a complete package. Undoubtedly, the story might feel slightly less mesmerizing at some points, but not even once do you feel like giving up. You will always find yourself being excited about the next episode.

Star Power

‘Jeremy Tsui’ did an outstanding job in playing the role of the evergreen and stoic wizard, Xue Jingkong. Not just his expressions but his entire aura does justice to the character of the mystic and affectionate magician. ‘Wang Yuwen’ also does a great job of being the ironically strong damsel in distress. Their chemistry together is just beyond words. They will seize your heart in minutes. The rest of the star cast also did very well.

Overall Opinion

You should check this show out. It is incredibly wholesome and will provide you with every kind of flavor. The inconsistency and the ending might dishearten you slightly. However, still, the chemistry between the characters is just so great, and their adventures are so entertaining that you will find yourself binge-watching the show probably.
