The play opens in an era when people coexisted with gods, goddesses, demons, and other supernatural creatures. Three mythological kingdoms rule the world: Shen Nong, Xuan Yuan, and Gao Xing. The Xuan Yuan kingdom takes over both the Kingdoms after emperor Xuan Yuan’s schemes. And successfully overthrows the Shen Nong kingdom in an epic war, while the third kingdom, the Gaon Xin kingdom, maintains neutrality.

Emperor Xuan Yuan secretly raised Gao Xin Jiu Yao, a daughter of Shen Nong Chi You, from a previous relationship. The Queen mother of Yu Shan took in foster daughter Xiao Yao when the Yellow emperor’s daughter abandoned her. In a battle, Xuan Yuan perishes without having the chance to return for his daughter. While this is happening, Xiao Yao harbors grudges against her father and later flees Yushan. With no one else to rely on but herself, she overcame various obstacles to eventually work as an undercover doctor as Wen Xiao Liu, a woman in disguise. She is a friendly, intellectual, and adorable young lady.

There are three main characters in the story. The first character is Qiang Xuan, commonly known as Prince Xuanyuan, the cousin of Xioyao who endured living in slavery while also making extensive travels to locate Xiao Yao. Wen Xiaoliu and Qiang Xuan initially fail to recognize one another. Only after many turns and turns do they ultimately learn each other’s identities, restoring Xiao Yao’s position as a princess.

The second character is the young master of Qingqiu, descended from nine-tailed foxes, Tu Shan Jing, who is unexpectedly saved from danger by Wen Xiaoliu. Over time, Jing began to feel humbled by Jiu Yao and loved him secretly.

Nine-headed demon Xiang Liu, the third main character, unintentionally learns that Xiao Yao can treat his wounds. Knowing this, He pursues her relentlessly till they eventually become close friends.
