Drama Digest

For almost a century, the Fans of Heaven and Earth have been under the protection of the Lingchuan Sect followers. Only Mu Yun and Hua Yue remain among the sect followers. Hua Yue, who is obstinate and rebellious, accidentally learns that the Fan of Heaven has the ability to traverse across time. Hua Yue goes to the future to have fun in order to get away from Mu Yun demands that she learn and practice martial arts. She encounters Xiao Qian, who resembles her identically, hundreds of years later. Secrets are revealed, and misadventures happen.

The Feel-Good Part

With a small budget, they were able to purchase some great costumes, some lovely music. According to what I gather from viewing (the slow motion in battles, the close-ups, the glances, etc.), it is extremely in keeping with this kind of ancient Chinese drama, and it works well. Although the editing is not done particularly well, the tale flows well enough to make up for it. In an hour, they manage to cram enough history and world background knowledge to create a tale and world that functions within the time constraints.

The Disappointing Factor

The series is very short compared to other series, and the total series runs only for one hour in total, so viewers might be a bit disappointed by this. At the same time, there is no character development for any of the characters, which might make the show a bit boring.

In-Depth Analysis

The disciples of the Lingchuan Sect have guarded the Fans of Heaven and Earth. This protection has been extended to them for nearly a century. Mu Yun and Hua Yue are the only disciples of the sect that are left. The stubborn and disobedient Hua Yue unintentionally discovers one secret. She finds out that the Fan of Heaven possesses the power to travel through time. In order to escape being forced to study and practice martial arts by Mu Yun, Hua Yue decides to travel to the future to have fun and to stray away from her responsibilities. As she travels hundreds of years into the future, she meets Xiao Qian. Xiao Qian looks like her exact copy, and they look no different from each other. However, such a meeting between them both leads to secrets coming to the surface, and as a result, they embark on adventures in order to learn more about them.

Star Power

Whether they are playing the bubbly, joyful Xiaoqian, the serious Muyun, whose shell was cracked by Xiaoqian, or the broken Hongyan, the women do a wonderful job of depicting their characters and the archetypes that they stand for. Particularly well-done performances come from Peng Jingxian (Hongyan) and Wang Laoji (Muyun). It can be challenging to sell a character, but Wang Xiaoyu succeeds in doing so with Xiaoqian. It is similar to selling the prince in Cinderella without turning him into a caricature.

Overall Opinion

If you enjoy watching short dramas, especially those which portray love between girls, then this is the perfect drama for you.
