Drama Digest:
The drama follows a sweet love story between an inspirational actress and a genius, dedicated doctor. Betrothed to each other since childhood by their parents, they try to defy the arranged marriage but still fall in love with each other as they slowly understand each other unable to break the destiny which brings them together. Su Jin Bei is a famous actress always at the center of attention due to her heavenly beauty. Though she flirts, she has never been in a relationship. Zhou Shi Yun is a genius doctor who has all – looks, money, fame, and smarts. He is a perfectionist by nature and likes to have his life in control. Shi Yun is indifferent about many things. He is popular among women. Unlike the cliche, where we see an overbearing, cold, aloof CEO who chases after a sweet girl, here it is the lovely and simple-natured female lead who takes the lead to chase after the low-key doctor.
The Feel-Good Part:
The drama is a lighthearted romantic comedy that follows a simple plot. The leads have explosive chemistry with the OSTs adding to the romantic effect. The side couple’s love stories are cute to watch. The visuals are great. The drama is both fun and endearing to watch.
The Disappointing Factor:
The drama is very cliché, with cringy scenes and an unrealistic plot. The show is an adapted version of a novel. The novel also focuses on the romantic life of the main lead’s friends, which is not the case in the drama adaptation.
In-Depth Analysis:
Su Jinbei is a rising actress who is beautiful and popular. Being the center of attraction in both real and reel life, she is constantly scrutinized through controversies, rumors, and sandals by media. Aside from her stage persona, she is a normal girl who is loved and cherished by her loved ones. She is cute, childish, and provocative. Jin Bei is like any other girl. She likes pink, chases after her idols, values her friendship and is very mature in relationships, and seeks companionship at the end of the day. Shi Yun is the second son of the wealthy Zhou family. He is emotionally indifferent but respects his elders and indulges his younger sister. He wants his life partner to be obedient, controllable, and one who can get things done. Jin Bei is not interested in the arranged marriage set by her parents. When she accidentally meets her fiancé in hospital, she tries to seduce him at every given opportunity, all to seek revenge against his coldness and indifference to their engagement. As they spend their time together, Jin Bei and Shiyun fall in love. Things get hectic when Su Jin Bei gets involved in dating rumors with Xu Jia Wei, a fellow actor, who was with her when she met an accident. Zhou Su Yun, Shi Yun’s sister, is a big fan of Jia Wei. She doesn’t like Jin Bei being part of their family when she is linked up with her favorite actor. She tries to create hurdles in front of Jin Bei but ends up getting caught by her brother. Gao Zhi Tong is also an actress. She doesn’t like Jin Bei and tries to make things hard for her in both personal and professional life. But all her efforts go in vain when Jin Bei and Shi Yun clear their misunderstanding and realize the depth of their feelings for each other. In a relationship, they both are mature and understand each other’s emotions and struggles. In a sense, as a couple, they show that it takes a lot of effort to be a couple, even if you love each other.
Star Power:
The cast has done a fantabulous job portraying each of theirs characters very well. The acting makes up for the weak plot. The female lead steals the show. The male lead grabs the viewer’s attention by his expressions, body language, and smile.
Overall Opinion:
This lighthearted, fairytale-like rom-com is a must-watch for those who enjoy a fluffy and sweet storyline that is fun and endearing to watch.
