Directed by Bo Chuan and Liu Fang, ‘Heroes’ is an adaptation of a novel and is a biography of the famous martial arts expert named Huo Yuanjia. The drama depicts stories that happened during his generation by the end of the Qing Dynasty. When the great ‘1898 Reform movement’ took place, the country faced many troubles, and the legendary ‘six heroes’ were dying. Huo Yuanjia was a brave and enthusiastic patriot who had immense love and respect for his country. He wanted to participate and create history. During Japan’s Allied Forces of the Eight Forces’ invasion, China was attacked by its enemy. When Huo Yuanjia was aware of the news, he straight away went to the houses of his relatives to collect the corpses of the people that were killed overnight. This eventually caused massive trouble for them, and he ended up being trapped by the enemy. He couldn’t help but only witness the country’s heroes dying. A year later, when he was living in Changzhou, he walked toward the mountainside and saw the terrible atmosphere. Despite the discouragement by his past and fear of falling into the enemy’s trap once again, he finally decided to shift to Shanghai. His reputation proliferated, and he was well known by the Japanese too, which made them worried and dissatisfied. They tried their level best to provoke him but failed to do so. With immense support from his wife, Madam Wang, a fearless, brave lady. He fought with the enemy. He charged them into a battle and successfully defeated them through his courageous actions.

The Feel-Good Part                   

An excellent drama with a fantastic storyline and plot. The show had significant aspects, and all the characters were brilliant.

In-Depth Analysis

The show unravels many stories. Huo Yuanjia undoubtedly was an excellent artist. His contributions to China did not go in vain, and since then, he has been a very famous personality. The show was mainly about martial arts but also included the elements of love, patriotism, hatred, betrayal, pain, etc., which made the entire series worth watching. The drama perfectly portrayed the values of the great Huo Yuanjia. He did not kill people unjustly and deeply valued human life. Not only he was mentioned, but also his family, friends, and his students were mentioned. Madam Wang was the biggest supporter of her husband. She was very kind, brave, loyal, and gracious. Though she didn’t fight, she had a fantastic personality and was always there for her husband during his illness, hardships, struggles, and fights. The show is wrapped in his life story and achievements, along with his great companions, he lost during the journey. The cinematography, along with the editing of the show was excellent and neatly executed. The show also had great visuals and wonderful background music and effects, which made the show even more enjoyable.

Star Power

The cast of the show was outstanding. All the characters played amazing roles and left the audience mesmerized. Huo Yuanjia was played by Vincent Zhang, who did justice to the position. The show is one of his best works. His action scenes made him look like an actual martial artist. Madam Wang was played by Mao Lin Lin, who managed to steal the show with her charming looks and fearless personality. She did an excellent job with her role and left the audience rooting for her. The supporting cast was great and they were played by Ashton Chen, Wu Chao, Tay Ping Hui, Ryan Kou, Zhang Chun Zhong, etc.

Overall Opinion

The show was a great watch. If you love action or historical dramas, this show won’t fail to entice you!
