Drama Digest

Officials from Jiangdong City’s People’s Procuratorate clash with elite lawyers from a law firm over the sanctioning of unethical companies and corrupt officials.

“Court Battle” follows prosecutor Gao Jian, assistant prosecutor Fu Xiaorou, and others as they work to restore the truth through the legal system. Gao Jian is a Jiangdong Procuratorate special prosecutor. He is the type of person who will not tolerate even the smallest error. The plot begins with a series of corruption cases that rock the well-established Jiangdong Group. Old relationships crumble in the face of new-found betrayals and a string of misunderstandings. As more dirt is uncovered, Gao Jin is found questioning all that he has ever known.

The Feel-Good Part

The show’s cinematography appeared good from the start. The sets felt quite authentic, and all of the shots were incredibly clean, resulting in a great overall picture. “Court Battle” is the ideal blend of drama and suspense. You get all of these enticing information snippets that are just enough to make you feel invested but leave you wanting to know more. The whole drama is buzzing with excitement, constantly throwing you off your game. It’s hard to guess what will happen next which keeps you excited throughout. The actors also did such a great job in portraying their characters. By the end of the series, you get extremely invested in finding out the truth and seeing justice prevail.

The Disappointing Factor

The plot of the drama is incredibly engaging in the beginning since information is gradually given throughout the first half of the drama. We learn all about the case and try to predict how it will all play out. Because the first half has all of the delicious elements, the second half struggles to hold the audience’s interest. Despite all of the drama around betrayals and the discovery of new information, the writers manage to keep the story on course. Finally, the ending felt rushed because everything was pulled together so quickly. The villain was built up to be exceedingly powerful by the writers, yet the way they are defeated feels a little anti-climatic.

In-Depth Analysis

Court Battle is a revenge story about political corruption. Although the term “revenge story” may be a little misleading because there’s much more to the story than the obvious betrayals. In that regard, the plot is straightforward. The primary protagonists are clear about what they want: justice. As a result, they have a clear aim in mind, and the only thing left to figure out is how to tackle the situation at hand. Fortunately, the plot was not stretched out needlessly or clogged with melodrama. To keep the series intriguing, there was just the proper amount of action, comedy, intrigue, drama, and romance.

Star Power

The casting was fantastic with Yu He Wei as Gao Jian and Karlina Zhang as Fu Xiao Rou. Gao Jian works for the Jiangdong Procuratorate as a prosecutor. He has the heart of a child and is an excellent senior prosecutor, unscrupulous and full of justice. He appears to be “cold and vicious,” and some refer to him as a “sad ghost.” All of these elements and features shone through with Yu He Wei’s fabulous acting. The same level of commitment and finesse was brought by Karlina Zhang to her role as Fu Xiao. Her character is a bubbly novice teamed with senior prosecutor assistant Gao Jian. Xi was raised in a legal environment and has worked in both prosecution and defence. She is a fiery trialist who excels at confrontation. Karlina and He Wei’s chemistry was great making them a perfect match on screen.

Overall Opinion

This show has an excellent cast, performance, and plot. It was a lot of fun. The entire storyline came together like a well-thought-out puzzle. The plot didn’t go overboard with excessive drama making the length of 40 episodes bearable. It is a good show to binge if you want something fast-paced and thrilling.
