Anime Digest

College student Kazuya Kinoshita, 20, has a great girlfriend named Mami Nanami, who is cheerful and sunny. But all of a sudden he is abruptly dumped by Mami, leaving him completely sad and alone. He uses an internet app to find a rental girlfriend to ease the agony. His companion is Chizuru Mizuhara, who charms Kazuya with her unrivaled beauty and kind personality.

Kazuya, however, thinks Chizuru’s pleasant smile and caring nature were all simply a show to play with his emotions. He evaluates her negatively after reading about similar experiences other clients had had with her. Angered, Chizuru blasts him for his blatant hypocrisy while displaying her actual part and irritable personality. However, Kazuya interrupts this one-sided conversation when he learns that his grandma has passed away.

They sprint to the hospital, discovering Kazuya’s grandma already in fine shape. She is perplexed by Chizuru’s presence and wonders who this girl may be. Kazuya immediately announces that they are in love on instinct, compelling Chizuru to play along. However, Kazuya is still troubled by his prior romance with Mami.

The Feel-Good Part

The artwork and animation aren’t anything special. In several situations, the character outlines are crimson. Character outlines are often drawn in classic black. However here they are entirely highlighted in red.

The Disappointing Factor

The characters are awful and unlikeable. The characters’ boring and unpleasant characteristics make it impossible to feel sympathy or sadness for them in the event of a tragedy.  The animation is also not satisfactory.

In-Depth Analysis

Kazuya, a college student, lost his lover Mami after just one month. He finds a Girlfriend Rental business and he comes across Chizuru from there. Kazuya went on a date with Chizuru but struggles with his feelings. He leases her out once more to reprimand her because he knows it’s all an act. This reveals Chizuru’s true self and the journey of these two getting to know one another, encountering strange circumstances, and gradually discovering that there could perhaps be something between them starts. That is about as in-depth as the tale for this show goes, but it is a good illustration of how to get more done with fewer resources. The main hook of this program is the unique scenarios and the hole that Kazuya creates, which keeps getting deeper and deeper with each episode. It demonstrates Chizuru’s dedication to not just her profession but also to safeguarding Kazuya because he is a customer of hers. Despite having the power to halt this farce at any time, she keeps doing Kazuya a solid.

Star Power

Lizzie Freeman as Chiuru , Sora Amamiya as Chizuru Mizuhara, Shun Horle as Kazuya Kinoshita

Overall Opinion

This show was much easier to get lost in because of the limited cast and straightforward premise. Kazuya getting into situations over and over again was hilarious. It was fun to see the characters grow over time. The show’s pacing seemed natural.
