Anime Digest

Manaka Mizusawa, a third-year junior high school student, is assigned by her teacher to put up a poster advertising a trial ice hockey class sponsored by the Dream Monkeys, their city’s local professional team. Manaka, interested in attending class, convinces her younger sister Ayaka and clubmates Kaoruko Yanagida and Mami Ono to join her. When the four arrive at the gymnasium for the lesson, they are greeted by fellow third-year students Riko Saginuma and Naomi Takagi. As the girls practise their hearts out, their enthusiasm for the sport grows, driving them to compete. Wanting to experience the unique and memorable memories that ice hockey can provide, the girls gradually build a team with the potential to reach the national championship.

The Feel-Good Part

It is advertised in such a way that appeals to Canadian Hockey fans and “Cute Anime Girls” fans. The friendship aspect of the anime is enjoyable to watch.

The Disappointing Factor

The idol part of the show seems a bit off and unnecessary.

In-Depth Analysis

It has a cliche ending where the main characters have reached the national championship. Honestly, it doesn’t feel pointless since the ending was appropriately done. The character development seems to be flawless as well. The scenes at the beginning showed how disinterested the girls were in hockey. Later on, looking up to their seniors, they realized that hockey is a field of extraordinary untapped potential. The sparkle in their eyes and the will and determination to reach the national championship is a cliche anime subplot. Hence, this anime reaches the targeted audience.

Star Power

The voice actors do great justice to the characters. You can sense the passion and the pain. The background music also intensifies the scenes whenever and wherever needed.

Overall Opinion

You might enjoy watching it for fun.
