Drama digest:
The series is about a boy named Nagumo Koshi, who was abandoned by his father due to the reason of their house catching fire. Roaming penniless on the streets, he’s helped by a girl, who takes her to a dorm full of women. It’s a story about Nagumo’s new life as a dormitory mother of a dorm full of older women.
The feel-good factor:
The only good thing this series does is stay true to its title and what it aimed to show the viewers. It does not censor anything and portrays everything as raw as it is, which is interesting.
The disappointing factor:
The biggest flaw of the series is that it portrays sexual molestation on a large scale. All the women in the dorm, sexually harass Koshi in different ways throughout the series. All this makes Koshi very uncomfortable. All this constitutes the misuse of sexuality. The nudity depicted on the show is more than required.
In-depth analysis:
Naguma Koshi, a young and charming boy, was abandoned by his father on his birthday after their house caught fire. He had no other members in his family, so he was left alone. As he had nowhere to go, he started living on the streets. One fine day, a fourth-year girl student, Mineru Wachi, who lives in a women’s dormitory, saw Koshi lying unconscious on the street. The reason for his unconsciousness was starvation. Seeing his condition, Mineru offered him to come and stay in her dorm as a Dormitory mother. The role of a dormitory mother is to take care of all those residing there, help them, and fulfilling their needs. Koshi hesitates at this offer at first, but later walks to the dorm with Mineru. All women heartily accept Koshi except one woman named, Atena Saotome. She says that she can’t accept Koshi to come and live with them because her nose starts bleeding as soon as she touches any man. On hearing this, Koshi refuses to work at the dorm. He turns down the offer because he doesn’t want anyone to feel uncomfortable in their own house, and as he knows the importance of having a home, he willingly gets ready to walk away. Seeing this humbleness of Koshi, Atena accepts him and permits Koshi to be the dorm mother. Koshi works hard at the dorm and soon becomes good friends with everyone. Meanwhile, Atena starts having a little crush on Koshi, but as Koshi refers to Atena as ‘sister’, she likes the idea of being called ‘sister’ by Koshi. Even though her feelings remain platonic for a while, they start turning into romantic as time passes by. Koshi is humble and helpful, but all the women in the dorm have distinct personalities, which creates an uncomfortable environment for Koshi. The girl who finds Koshi, Mineru, is a crazy scientist. She likes to walk around the dorm, with only underwear on and with no other piece of clothing. The reason she gives for this is that she works with toxic chemicals. The other goth girl dresses up Koshi in various sexual cosplay outfits, any chance she gets. Another girl Kiriya, is a shy girl, who gets embarrassed whenever Koshi treats her well. In general, it’s a story about Koshi surviving all these women and living a dorm life as the only man there.
Star power:
Every woman on the show tries to shine through the way of sexual appeal and behaviour. But as there’s only one male character on the show, who’s a nice guy, he can be called the star of the show.
Overall opinion:
This series can be watched by the people who are tolerant towards various forms of sexual harassment by women on a minor boy. For those who are not, this can be very uncomfortable.
