Drama Digest
The business of buying and selling haunted houses is run by Jiang Shuo. Qin Yi Heng, a psychologist, meets Jiang Shuo while she is searching for her father. Yuan Mu Qing is the daughter of a warlord. They come together to fight against mysterious forces. Jiang Shuo suffers from amnesia. A letter has been received by Qin Yi Feng that contains countdown to Jiang Shuo’s death time. It also had his father’s abduction indication when he went missing a year ago. Qin Yi Heng is assumed to hunt the clue that can lead him back to his father. Jiang Shuo uses Zhu Youshu to infiltrate other persons psychological time. Jiang Shuo puts himself at a great risk while finding clues that will lead him to the answers he is searching for. Qin Yi Heng’s psychological powers and Yuan Mu Qing, a constable’s fighting skills are inclined to back him up.
The Feel-Good Part
The drama has set the high production values. The story has some interesting aspects between detective and supernatural series. The storyline is extraordinary.
The Disappointing Factor
The ending was not satisfying and promising. The mystery part could have been improved.
In-Depth Analysis
The Psych-hunter is an adaptation of the novel Haunted Houses Handbook by Er Shi San. This adaptation is modified pertaining to the main characters backstory. There is an inclusion of a romantic arc. The show is facilitated by fusion of investigation procedural with typical Chinese beliefs. It also presented mythology and the art of geomancy. The concept was set up in the Republican period. Moral ambiguity and intense fear of superstitions, folklore enhanced the paranormal vibes. The story revolves around three people and their investigations. Jiang Shou is exploring the human psyche. Qin Yi Heng is a qualified doctor. Yuan Mu Qing is a daughter of a warlord. The plot explains Jiang Shuo’s unexplained remembrance loss the disappearance of friends, family and other things linked to Liu Zhi, the villain. The main protagonists encounter more than fifteen mysterious cases.
Star Power
The central leads performed well. The actors subtly invokes intelligence, stoicism and vulnerability that elevated the portrayal of characters well. Yuan Mu Qing played by Zhu Xu Dan was a pampering performance.
Overall Opinion
This is one of the best detective-mystery. The supernatural effects were a good touch to the script.
