Drama Digest
In the highly codified genres of drama, there are sometimes unexpected crossovers, miles from the realism required by a medical series. Dr White is one of them. Adapted from novels recounting the mystery of a (very) young doctor with amnesia, discovered in a forest on a calm and bright morning. While she has forgotten even the existence of a vending machine or a smartphone, she makes diagnoses at lightning speed. By observation of the person, by absorbing the medical jargon better than Vidal, so much so that he is invited to exercise from the first minutes.
The Feel Good Part
It offers a good mix of humour and mystery drama components and has done well with viewers. The storyline as well is not mediocre and has unexpected plot twists.
The Disappointing Factor
Nothing disappoints you here.
In-Depth Analysis
The drama could have been ridiculous, but thanks to perfect actors in their roles, it breathes an unexpected realism. And yet, their characters are as often very caricatural. We will come across the handsome, contemptuous doctor, the overinvested young intern, and the shrink who is a loser with women in general and his own in particular. Without forgetting the young head doctor who must prove herself, given that she is the daughter of the sick director, battling against the evil head of the surgery department, ready to do anything to take over from her father. We are used to this kind of story which wants to improve the care of this “small” hospital. Nothing original in this case, therefore, and however, the presence of the two main characters succeeds in renewing the genre.
Star Power
Emoto Tasuku’s acting amuses the viewers, bringing emotion to the viewer and questioning him as the strong character of the series, the actress Hamabe Minami. A safe bet for a drama, for many years now, when she is only 21. Minami Chan is an outstanding actress when it comes to making us laugh. Her pretty face hides the reservoir of grimaces. His gaze, his smile…, everything breathes perfection in the game. Going from a medical professional, even disapproving of his colleagues, to an eight-year-old child discovering the world around him. Minami Chan breathes joy into the whole team and ourselves, confirming her status as a successful actress in Japanese comedies.
Overall Opinion
It is worth watching. There’s nothing you’d like to change because the direction of the drama has been done reasonably well.
