Drama Digest

Let’s Chat or Let’s Hotpot is back for its second season. The show is a spin-off of the iconic Street Dance of China Season 4 where star-tutor professional dancers give new people a chance to define their culture and set their trends. In this series, we are introduced to the concept of problems being solved around a hot pot filled with 11 meals. In this season, the four captains chat with their chief director and producers and talk about hot topics and their mental health and well-being, and all the behind-the-scenes drama. The show opens up production, crew, and cast to understand each other better and create a better work environment. The contestants will be surprised to see how their captains respond and the captains will be able to unwind after a tough day at work. Watch this reality show and see friendships and professional lives blossom over a hot pot and a good meal. After all, there is nothing better than a good meal to solve all your problems.

The Feel-Good Part

The show is a unique one as it presents us with a new way of conflict resolution in the workplace. The show is filled with positive energy and does not thrive off drama as most reality shows do. There is a great sense of comradery and good sportsmanship between those involved in the show. The food they eat together is one of the highlights of the show and is something that brings all the members and the audience together no matter what. The conversations within the meal are not anything too serious but rather a look into the growth that each person had over their season. While the show does not entirely focus on the original dance program it does make for a great tie into the original series as it allows us to learn more about these people and what they have to offer. Another great aspect of this show is how it manages to showcase bonds and friendship. There is no ill-will or produced drama that feels unnatural and is a perfect way for the audience to connect with these stars.

The Disappointing Factor

The only disappointing fact about this show is that at times it feels like a mukbang and not much more. Since the focus is entirely on sitting down and having a nice meal together, it makes for a great viewing experience and allows us to understand them better. It is not much you can fault about this show and it is a refreshing look at a spin-off. You would not expect food and dancing to go together but they gel well together.

In-Depth Analysis

The fun aspects of this show outweigh the drama. This show does not exist out of malice or ill will, which is evident in how it is produced. The show is an interesting concept that should be explored more in reality TV and places great importance on having a meal together which is essential in every Asian household.
