The show runs on the base idea of the escape room. In each episode, a team of five to six people enters the hidden room with various themed stories. They will get clues to explore and escape from the mystery location without any stipulated time limit. What mysteries and horrors lie in store for them at each site? The Feel-Good Part
In one of the themes, the team members dress up like security guards. The zombie-like creatures attack the members when they come into contact with light or sound. Zhang Guo Wei, the hero from the first season, appears as an NPC in the episodes.
The Disappointing Factor
Most viewers expected everyone from the first season to be there in the second season. Since a couple of teammates are new, some viewers find it hard to connect new members all together as they were not there in the first season. There is only one female on the team. It would have been more fun to have more female teammates.
In-Depth Analysis
Great Escape Season 2 is a Chinese adaptation of the Korean variety show with a similar premise. The cast members are placed in a large themed escape room and left to their own devices to solve puzzles without a time limit. Mango TV launched the live-scene decryption experience program Great Escape: Season 2. The group in this season is known as the Escape Five and consists of Yang Mi, Deng Lun, Huang Ming Hao, Da Zhang Wei, and Guo Qi Lin. For those who missed the first season, the second season is a great place to start because the basic idea is on different escape rooms. Each episode has different themes and clues that team members have to solve. The show also features many guest actors for added entertainment. In the first theme of this season, a special guest, Actor Zhang Yu Jian, joins the show and poses as the butler of the haunted house, or he is the episode’s NPC (non-player character) in gaming terms. The story, plot, and cases are all very intriguing. You can tell that the director and crew put a lot of effort into creating these scenes and mysteries. It is suspenseful but also frightening at times. The music enhances the experience. This program is entertaining in addition to being cognitively challenging. They try to combine the game with the psychological issues in society to spread awareness. Even during terrifying parts of the show, one of the cast members will make you laugh.
Star Power
Since most of the team members have worked together in the last season, they were able to indulge in the game quite comfortably. All the teammates worked well together to give us the utmost entertainment. You can see them in a light where they are not putting up a character but rather their selves.
Overall Opinion
It is a fun escape room game show that everyone will enjoy till the end. It has all sorts of fun elements you expect in such shows. Highly recommend it!
