Movie Digest

A two-year-old girl from Bangkok, Einz Naovaratpong, called lovingly “Einz” by her parents, had an unfortunate untimely death due to brain cancer, she then became the youngest person in the world to undergo the process of cryo-preservation. After her death, her family registered for cryo-preservation and had her remains stored in an American lab. Her remains are lying in a lab that specializes in cryo-preservation. The girl’s family hopes to see their daughter being revived in the future and have a chance at living a life she was robbed. The father instils these thoughts in his son and hopes that his son can continue working on bringing his sister back. Soon the boy travels to the USA and discovers things that could change everything. The family is surrounded by scandals. They practice Buddhism, and this process of believing in their daughter still being stuck between life and death, makes everybody question their belief.

The Feel-Good Part

The feeling of hope that is still there within the family members is such a warm yet sad feeling, seeing their love for this little girl and how her birth and death held this family together.

The Disappointing Factor

Some viewers may find the film emotionally heavy. The film brought me to tears. Nothing is disappointing about this documentary movie.

In-Depth Analysis

Cryo-preservation refers to freezing a person or an animal in hopes of reviving them in the future when we get better technologies. The movie focuses on one such family from Thailand who froze their 2-year-old daughter’s brain after she tragically passed away of cancer. The family believes that one day, they will get to see their daughter live her life, with her memories intact. Their dreams are carried on by their son, who travels to the USA, to find out more about the process of regeneration and cryopreservation. The documentary was sombre. There is something so warm and hopeful watching somebody be so in love with a family member that even after her death, they are doing all they can, to bring her back. The documentary is supposed to be a collection of stories that the family wants to preserve underground for Einz to see when she comes back to life so she knows how much she was loved. There is something hopeful about all of this, the scientists themselves have described Cryo-preservation as a process of hope and faith and not science. There are so many emotions in this documentary that are sometimes hard to comprehend. Losing a child is not easy, but would you go to the extent of believing in a life after death and putting your alive children through that ordeal as well?

Star Power

The movie is well made. All the people in the documentary have told their stories so emotionally that it will surely make anyone sad.

Overall Opinion

The documentary is beautiful. It brought tears to my eyes. The ignited hope that a family has and how that hope gets more significant and robust to the point that they begin to question their faith and their belief, but they never stop believing in the love they have for their daughter. A must-watch.
