Movie Digest

‘Nobleman Ryu’s Wedding,’ set during the Joseon period, is about a political marriage gone awry. Ryu Ho Seon discovers his bride is a male, the brother of Hwa Jin, the woman he was intended to marry, few hours after their wedding.

The Feel-Good Part

It demonstrates the lengths a person must go to maintain their family’s reputation and dignity during such times….the challenges of a newly married woman….Though the series’ length was ideal, I thought it might have been longer.

The Disappointing Factor

In short, this historical drama hasn’t really touched on anything historical except from the clothing and the two houses where it was shot, both of which have been erected in the same manner for centuries. The series’ summary sounds good. However, like with most Koren BLs, time is a concern here. Because there isn’t much time to build the series’ correct flow, it appears that there are some plot holes.

In-Depth Analysis

The wedding of Ryu Ho Seon and his lovely bride, Hwa Jin, takes place on a sunny spring day during the Joseon Dynasty. However, on their wedding night, Ho Seon begins to have doubts about his beloved. And rightly so, for his wife is a male! And now Ho Seon is face to face with the bride’s brother, Choi Ki Wan, who says that Hwa Jin’s dislike of political marriages forced her to flee the ceremony before it had started. Needless to say, Ho Seon tries to annul the marriage right away, but his ill mother is against it. The couple must now preserve their relationship, which can never be revealed to anyone! When Kim Tae Hyeong arrives to congratulate his buddy Ho Seon, he falls in love with Ki Wan and begins courting him right away. Both Ki Wan and Ho Seon are now in a precarious situation. Ho Seon is well aware that there is little time to squander between honouring his dying mother’s requests and the never-ending deluge of love letters for Ki Wan. To make matters even more complicated, Hwa Jin decides to return at this moment. Returning everyone to their appropriate places is the only way to ease the anguish in everyone’s hearts. Is it, however, easier said than done?

Star Power

Watching kang in soo in ‘wish for you’ and in this one the was just perfect for this role the way the performers depicted their characters was amazing Lee se Jin was like lovely, his look as a lady was totally wonderful.

Overall Opinion

If you’re seeking for a historically accurate Joseon Dynasty drama, I’ve got some bad news for you: keep looking. This isn’t the series for you. But if you’re searching for something to occupy your time, go ahead and try it.
