Movie Digest

The movie Missing is about how a daughter finds her missing father. The central part of the plot is that the father goes missing after explaining to his daughter about seeing a serial killer who has a finding price of 3 million. Satoshi Harada is a widower who lives with his daughter. His daughter is in her teenage years. One day, Satoshi is caught shoplifting in a market because he is 20¥ short. Later he doesn’t come home for a long time, i.e., he disappears. Now, his daughter Kaede starts to look for him.

The Feel-Good Part

When Kaede stepped out to look for her father, every person she asked for help said that now her father would never come back. They told her to stop looking, but Kaede didn’t give up. The firm determination to find her father makes the movie very engaging and adds a glint of emotions. He has a determination that came from the feeling that all she has is her father, so it is not like she has anything to lose even if something happens. From the point Kaede figures out where her father has disappeared, the plot takes an exciting turn. This plot is very intense and adds a good feel to the movie.

The Disappointing Factor

When Kaede finds out who has made her father disappear, a few glimpses from the past reveal a significant part of why all this might be happening. The glimpses add a black comic to the plot. It is called black comedy because a bad thing is brought forth humorously. The movie’s story is mainly based on coincidence and makes it hard to believe that so many coincidences can happen and lead to such a story.

In-Depth Analysis

When Kaede tries to find her father, she ends up at his workplace, and one young and familiar face opens the door. The person looked strange, and Kaede only later realized who it was. The person was a serial killer named Terumi Yamauchi. He had price money of ¥3 million. After that, the past glimpses show how Terumi and Satoshi crossed paths before and how they are connected. The movie’s end is one of the best that has happened so far this year. This is a movie you ought to watch.

Star Power

The role of Satoshi Harada, played by Jiro Sato, is vivacious. Aoi Ito, who plays Kaede, has given a fabulous performance as a headstrong daughter. She captures the viewers’ attention so that when she is not on the screen, her presence is missed. The serial killer, played by Hiroya Shimizu, is a type of serial killer who cuts his victims and puts them in the icebox. It showed some resemblance to some high-profile mass murderers that exist.

Overall Opinion

The movie Missing is an excellent piece of art and is very entertaining. Every film has some factor that has a downside, but it hasn’t stopped them from being blockbusters. The same goes for this movie, especially after the phenomenal climax. This is a movie that deserves a full house. With the pandemic making it difficult for films to release in theatres, this movie made its place as a blockbuster.
