The Pioneer is a historical-drama Chinese, Mandarin language movie released in 2021. This film explores the spread of Communalism and Marxism throughout China by one of the founding members of the CCP (Chinese Communist Party), Li Dazhao. The plotline of this biographical film revolves around the central character of Li Dazhao and the revolutionary deeds which were done by him throughout the years 1912-1927. The film also tells the stories of people under his leadership who became devoted to the cause of Marxism as a revolutionary pioneers and lofty persons.

The Feel-Good Part

The Pioneer is one of the best films in the genre of historical drama non-fictional. The art direction of the film is worth appreciating. The film stars a long list of actors as the main cast, and each gets their fair amount of screen time. The screenplay is done very tactfully, which can easily grip the viewers.

The Disappointing Factor

The film makers failed to depict the emotional depth of some of the characters. Being a multi-cast film, some of the actors did get overshadowed by the others.

As the title suggests, The Pioneer is a film about one of the founding members of CCP (Chinese Communist Party), Li Dazhao. Li Dazhao is one of the prominent personalities of China due to his legacy. Being the co-founder of the Chinese Communist Party, he is one of the prime personalities who has contributed to China’s politics and ideology. The plot of the film tells how Li Dazhao, one of the historical revolutionists of China, remembers his past throughout his last days. His leadership influenced people with lofty ideals devoting their life to the cause of Marxism, eventually becoming revolutionary pioneers themselves. The Pioneer was released on the day of the 100th anniversary of CCP to commemorate the event.
