Movie Digest
“Guardian of the Palace” is a Chinese fantasy where magical powers exist, and is a period film. The Golden Moon Gem is said to have great magical power and it is buried in an ancient city. Tianya and his sister are ordered to go on a journey to find the golden moon gem. General Feng Peichuan says that it is to get rid of the plague haunting Heishui town, but the strange thing is he has ulterior motives to find the gem.
The Feel-Good Part
It has excellent cinematography, and the characters are well portrayed. The story is not too intense and pleasing to watch. It has a good mystery to keep us watching.

The script is not well written, and the story is basic. The sudden change in scenery is very confusing.
In-Depth Analysis
The Golden Moon Gem is said to have great magical power and is buried in an ancient city. Tianya is our protagonist who goes on an adventure to find the gem along with his sister. General Feng Peichuan is a bad person who fools Tianya and his sister regarding the treasure. He makes up the story that the gem can save their father, who is affected by the plague, and forces them to find it. They face various trouble in finding the treasure. This film is pretty well done. It is good but not great. The special effects are sound, but it is obvious that they are fake at times. The story is creative with good characters.
Star Power
Peng Yu Si as Tianya and Mark Du as Feng Peichuan did an excellent job, along with other supporting casts.
Overall Opinion
Overall, this film is enjoyable. It is not too intense but has a good mystery. It is entertaining and is worth watching.
