Drama Digest

The series focuses on Papang, a top student who is popular in school, especially through her social media account. It traces the incidents that allegedly led her to commit suicide in the middle of a live stream. With a seemingly happy life, her death does not make sense. The case gets closed with the police concluding that Papang committed suicide to imitate Gina, her favorite transgender actress. Gina had also recently committed suicide in the middle of her live stream due to cyberbullying. Papang’s brother Khan is still not convinced and continues to investigate the reason behind his sister’s death. He enlists the help of Phat, an assistant teacher, and advisor to Papang’s class. Together as they uncover the various layers and complexities of human emotions that can push people to take up extreme actions, the facade of Papang’s seemingly idyllic world also falls apart. Who or what could have led her to take such a decision? Watch the series to find out.

The Feel-Good Part

The series did an excellent job of heightening the tension as it progressed towards unraveling and revealing the complexities of each character and their relationship with each other. Many of the situations the characters find themselves in are relatable and realistic. And while such scenes may be triggering to a certain degree, watching the series till the end might end up being a cathartic experience. The series did not portray the characters in stark categories of good or evil; instead, the series chose to highlight that every action we make has a consequence.

The Disappointing Factor

The plotline is easily predictable. The series did an excellent job in the way they unraveled it and delivered the social message that they aimed for, but there was no anticipation and room for imagination.

In-Depth Analysis

The Comments depicts current social media problems which many people are facing nowadays. Some of these are finding approval from strangers online, using “fake” online identities, hiding behind anonymous identities, and posting hurtful comments. However, the series falls far from being preachy, unlike other series that deal with social commentary. The Comments also highlight the positive impact that social media can have. The emphasis is on the choice of our actions and the consequences that follow.

Star Power

Stellar acting from the cast, they created a realistic setting altogether.

Overall Opinion

The series is compact, and in just five episodes, it delivers its message. It is definitely worth watching especially if you are into short series.
