Drama Digest

Precon Company created Manxin, an AI fate telling programme, seven years ago. The programme appears to have an accuracy rate of 96.3 percent. People have come to believe in the programme without question. Sun-Ho (Lee Yeon-Hee) and Ga-Ram (Lee Dong-Hwi), who each have their own troubles and secrets, try to track down the Manxin programme developer.

The Feel-Good Part

The finale raises many questions, which is exactly what good science fiction should do. Can we exercise free will by choosing not to be told of our destiny if everyone in the World is predetermined? Is it possible to choose whether or not to believe in the delusion of free will? Is that, in fact, free will?

Manxin has intriguing cinematography, as well as unique camerawork and editing.

The Disappointing Factor

The story was insufficient to fill the episode’s duration. It was also poorly stated, making it difficult to follow at times. Manxin, unlike The Prayer, that was nearly flawless, had a number of defects. The most obvious is the imprecise and somewhat cliched “fortunes” that AI bestows on people on a daily basis. They’re meant to be recognizable to those who have grown up in a shamanic culture, but they’re susceptible to interpret in ways that call into question the show’s premise’s “96.3 percent correctness.” Which is, of course, one of the accusations levelled towards shamanism by non-believers.

In-Depth Analysis

Manxin, an AI fortunetelling service, has a startling high level of accuracy. Seonho and Garam, both have their own anguish and secrets, search for Manxin’s developer in a world in which people deify and also have blind confidence in it. They uncover the true nature of Manxin, contrary to their preconceptions. In a time when advanced AI can accurately foresee the future to a large extent, Manxin asks questions about life and the essence of humanity through people who are, paradoxically, obsessed with black arts instead of science, and others who refuse to follow the route, eagerly seek the truth. Isn’t it possible for humans to live out their lives in happy ignorance, even if we don’t understand where the time is leading?

Star Power

The acting was superb. Lee Yeon Hee’s performance is very genuine and real. Her northern star jacket is just what I’m looking for. She has a great appearance. Lee Dong Hwi’s performance is excellent, and as usual, he is faultless. I really liked his hairdo.

Overall Opinion

Manxin is a fun watch overall, but it will leave you seeking more.
