Drama Digest:

The drama continues the story from season 1 and showcases the journey of Crown Prince Lee Chang as he tries to save his people from the peculiar plague that threatens the kingdom- while he also struggles to defend his entitled throne and the territory itself. Now the danger has even reached the capital, and Lee Chang is people’s only hope. On the other hand, the queen is leaving no stone unturned to gain an heir as soon as possible.

The Feel-Good Part:

Since the drama is a Netflix original, it naturally is pleasuring in visual terms. The cinematography is top-notch. The makeup is so realistic that it gives you chills at points. Moreover, the drama is fast-paced, and even in the short span of just six episodes, you are overloaded with mind-blowing action and twists. It has a similar vibe as that of some big multi-million blockbusters. You are never confident of what will happen next while nobody is safe. The loyalty and friendship shown are overwhelming.

The Disappointing Factor:

The drama elaborates upon the scenarios and people from the first season. Undeniably, more depth has been given to the story and the individuals; however, it still appears as a mere continuation and elucidation of season 1. The point is it could all have been merged and telecasted as one unified series. Making the audience wait for a whole damn year and more, just for a story that was divided into two separate parts, superfluously, seems ridiculous occasionally. The ending isn’t the clear ‘The End’ kind of end. It’s rather more of a cliffhanger (just like season 1), and while that is somewhat interesting and makes you wish for more. Yet, with no official announcements regarding another new season by the team, the cliffhanger might even serve as a disappointment to many people, if that turns out to be the actual final ending (though the possibility of that is minute.)

In-Depth Analysis:

It is the second installment of Netflix’s first-ever original Korean drama. It is based on the manga known as The Kingdom of The Gods. This drama is surely a breath of fresh air for both K-drama lovers and the lovers of zombie themes. The idea of mixing zombies with the historical era and respective politics is unique and highly intriguing. Being a Netflix original, the drama sets a high bar and is executed extraordinarily well. The drama picks up right from where the first season ended; hence everyone who loved the first season will naturally fall in love with this season too. It will implant the same, if not more, sense of excitement, thrill, and delight within you, which the first season did.

Star Power:

The cast is simply perfect. The role of the Crown Prince is played by ,Joo Ji Hoon;’ ‘Bae Doo Na’ is seen as Seo Bi while ‘Kim Sung Gyu,’ ‘Ryu Seung Ryong,’ ‘Kim Sang Ho,’ ‘Jeon Seok Ho,’ ‘Kim Hye Jun,’ and many others, are also part of the team. Everyone did a great job in acting and will have you hooked. For instance, ‘Kim Hye Jun’ does such a great job portraying the character of the zealous evil queen that you can’t help but hate, and the same is the case for ‘Ryu Seung Ryong,’ who plays the role of her father, Lord Cho Hak Ju. At the same time, ‘Joo Ji Hoon’ and ‘Bae Doo Na’ will make you fall in love with them. ‘Joo Ji Hoon’ serves as the connecting string between everything and everyone, so all of it would have seemed useless in a way without him.

Overall Opinion:

It is quite a refreshing story, and you should check it out. You will find yourself hooked right from the beginning. It could also be the best suggestion you can give to any non-k-drama watcher, who loves thriller or zombie movies, to make them fall in love with k-dramas.
