Drama Digest

After its first season, Hospital Playlist 2 is back with more music, more camaraderie, and more joy in simplicity. The drama follows the journey of five best friends who meet while escaping freshman party in med school, who have stayed beside each other venturing through everyday life till now in their 40s working as colleagues in Yulje Medical Centre.

The Feel-Good Part

This particular series stands out from the rest as it embarks on a journey through the eyes of the doctors as well as through the stories of different patients and interns, and covers stories of hope, despair, struggle, compassion, grief, resonance, friendship, and bonding, as these same characters encounter several events in their professional and private lives which gets the viewer invested in how their journeys blend in to evolve together.

The Disappointing Factor

Being from the slice of life category, many dialogues and scenes are brought out in ways to make the viewer feel curious and at pace with the characters, though for a little while the flow of the series gets draggy.

In-depth Analysis

A general surgeon, a paediatric surgeon, an obstetrics & gynaecology professor, a cardiac surgeon, and a Neurosurgeon are brought together with their mutual love for music. This series focuses on a much more relaxed pace of romance, drama & humour rather than the cliched acts of most K-Dramas. Along with the medical drama including various surgical jargon that is very well explained to not seem overwhelming for the viewers, the affection shared between the characters and their patients, colleagues, among themselves compliments the second theme of the series: music.

All BTS fans are packed to receive a shoutout in the very first episodes.

During hard times, Yulje and the stories crafted within its walls provided comfort among the different lives that crossed its threshold. Whether it be over a shared meal between two mothers or action of gratitude from patients to the nurses looking over their loved ones, or the shared grief for a no longer beating heart, the steps of every ordinary life through this lens made each moment extraordinary.

The smooth picturization of ups and downs faced in the hospital, the strong bond between a father and his little child who understands that his father can’t spend much time with him as he is out there saving lives, the constant banter between siblings, between a mother and son while preparing his favorite dishes, and between those friends who know each other like the back of their hands is nothing less than wholesome. The romance part of the drama doesn’t consist of cheesy acts, rather it shows the genuine of characters developing feelings for each other.

Capturing someone’s tears, another’s childhood, simple joy that the smell of rain spreads, a full smile on seeing one’s favorite dish in between busy schedules, or capturing moments where everyone is nothing more, nothing less than just a human. Hospital Playlist 2 carries with it a scent of nostalgia and flavors of many lives cherished together.

Star Power

From one of the most spot-on castings, each character portrayed the most earnest roles while keeping the perfect on-screen presence till the end.

Overall Opinion

Laughing at the goofiness of their friendships, embracement of love, the togetherness of family, jamming to the award-worthy OSTs performed by the band for every phase, without realizing it, these five best friends would have already spread their warmth within you, touching your heart.
