Drama Digest

A story revolves around unnatural beings who emerge to issue a proclamation and condemn people to hell. These metaphysical events spur harm and encourage a religious group, The New Truth, to prosper. But few people became pessimistic about the activities and turn on to investigate their stake in such phenomena’s.

The Feel-Good Part

The finale episode gave an excellent line which I feel was terrific and can be realised by the audience. It is appreciable to see a thriller story put up in such a small amount of episodes. The storyline, plot and execution were precise. The cinematography and music were decent. It felt like a collection of stories happening under the same sky.

The Disappointing Factor

The backstory of the show is not entirely explained. Many factors like crime, victim, bloodlust, radicalism, abuse and other elements are shown as a wrong way of justice.

In-Depth Analysis

The drama is set up in a dystopian world with supernatural aspects. Few people, as a decree, see the prediction of their death that they are bound to hell for the sins they have inflicted. Some giant creatures arrive from nowhere. They kill them and propel them to hell. Jin Su is the founder of the group The Truth, they convince the people that this is god’s work. They have called the demons as Angle of Death. Hwasalchok is the people who follow the religion and kill the people who question the existence of God. A lawyer, Hye Jin, is trying to find the truth about his faith. A detective, Kyung Hoon’s daughter, gets involved with the followers. The whole story is divided into two parts. The beginning episodes show the rise of the cult, and the other half shows its consequences. It is a strong thriller drama that has some impactful elements. The characterisation of human beings was logical. For the detective, kindness has delivered him wound and sorrow, but he is still trying to come to clasps with his wife’s murder. His investigation leads him to withstand the leader of The Truth group. For sinners, the cult has endorsed salvation by circulating the gospels of the angles. The ending cranks up the shock value with the revelations of the finale. The drama does not leave an open finishing through a cliffhanger. The storyline was tied together. Yoo Ah, towards the end, murdered some people and was sent to hell. There’s a new creator of the New Truth who seems to have put up with the benefit of the whole circumstance. Fear  is the broad component that everyone uses to achieve their goals. The ending was masterfully handled. The series left the audience with questions like how did the baby survive? Why a dead lady became human once again? It is adapted from the web comic of the same name written by Yeon Sang Ho and illustrated by Choi Kyu Seok.

Star Power

The actors have done an excellent job. The skilled actors were the life of the show; even, the supporting actors and minor characters have given an outstanding job.

Overall View

Hellbound is presented as a dark supernatural story. This Netflix origin started generously but did not end up fine. The series is good enough for binge-watch. The plot can keep you engaged.
