Drama Digest

In a post-pandemic world overtaken by the power of technology, there lives a school teenager, Hee Jae Baek, who struggles to make her way through a society that sets its expectations to 100 per cent. The story [set in a futuristic manner] portrays the lifestyle of a kid born after the massive hit of the Covid-19 Pandemic. This series focuses on a particular phase of life that this teenager experiences in her mid-teens. The protagonist, who lives with her widowed mother, attends a highly proclaimed, technologically advanced school [Pro Academy] established primarily for the first-class families of the society. The institution prepares immense tests and frequent examinations that train its students to aim for what lies beyond 100% in life. Hee Jae Baek’s mother portrays the character of an individual who is particular about getting perfect scores in her studies.

The story then continues with a feel-good school romance with her classmate, Lee Si Dae, the male lead character. However, tension unfolds between Hee Jae Baek and her mother about her academics and the relationship she holds with Lee Si Dae. How does Hee Jae Baek handle this situation and how would she confront her mother? The Answers to such queries are later revealed in the series.

The Feel-Good Part

The Drama entails many cute and wholesome moments with the two lead characters who portray a typical teenager’s lifestyle in school.

The Disappointing Factor

The male lead role leaving the series mid-way seemed abrupt and random. It felt as if a proper reason for his departure was not delivered properly in the last few episodes.

In-Depth Analysis

The series highlights the side-effects of a post-pandemic, technologically advanced way of living. It reflects upon the lack of human interaction, further leading to the detachment of human emotions, touch, and sense of feel. The show also highlights the two lead characters’ experiences with emotions such as love and fear of loss. This is something that they have not been familiarized with before. Such feelings were emoted cleverly during the ‘cat scenes’ in the series. The symbolic interpretation of the cat with the relationship between the mother and daughter, Hee Jae Baek was delivered beautifully.

Star Power

The chemistry between the two lead characters [Yoo Jung woo and Lee Soo Min] worked nicely and was reflected well in scenes where they arrange food and shelter for the cat. The child actors who played the younger versions of the fundamental roles did a wonderful job. They gave an apt representation of how an individual born after a global Pandemic understands the environment around them.

Overall Opinion

Overall, the web series is a feel-good, romance-based story that highlights a particular phase in a normal teenager’s life. The Director showcases a futuristic way of living through the lens of teenagers that experience the post-pandemic lifestyle.
