Drama Digest

As a child, the family brings you up in a certain way. You have rules and regulations that need to be followed and adhered to.

The series was adapted from a manga of the same name written by Kappy. The story became an anime in 2019 and 2020, it was directed and released by Yu Ota as a series.

The central character is a young, pretty girl named Oshako Jaeger. She has lived a sophisticated life and her parents have taught her that she cannot date or marry an unrefined person. This makes it challenging for her as she has to figure out a way in which she can pick the polished males.

She decides to sort them by visiting their homes. She believes that homes reflect the person’s character and upbringing.

She and her friend Kaneku Kinnu start visiting the homes of the men. These visits result in hilarious and poignant situations for her.

The series delves into Kinnu’s journey to find her perfect, refined mate. And, if she finds someone that matches her upbringing is the theme.

While the focus is on the person’s nurture and its effect on their choices, it is also about Kinnu’s self-growth as part of these home visits.

The Feel-Good Part

The visuals, make-up, and costumes are on point. They reflect the refinement that the principal character requires.

The dialogues are also well-written, especially the comic ones.

Let us not forget the performances. The actors are brilliant in their roles.

The theme of using homes as a symbol of nurture in determining lifestyle choices is fascinating.

In-Depth Analysis

Nurture versus Nature has been a bone of contention for the longest time.

While we are brought in a certain manner, this affects the choices and decisions we make in life. But in the process do we miss out on valuable relationships or important people? Or nurture helps us separate the bad and good that exists in our environment. It is the process of selective selection, that makes life easy.

The series probes into the debate further. The main female lead Kaneko Kinna is brought up by her parents in a certain way. She has to follow their mandate of seeing guys who belong to a particular social class. In this case, the elite or refined ones.

So, Kinna decides to eliminate the incorrect ones through their homes. She believes that the houses reflect the person’s upbringing and character.

The series explores Kinna’s search for her ideal mate. It also shows her journey as a person.

Star Power

Hanako Yahagi has done a wonderful job as Kinna. She is ably supported by the other cast members.
