Drama Digest

The main character of the show is Mitsutaka Oji. He is a 43 years old man, and he works as the manager of a sales department. He lives alone and is divorced. The drama focuses on the somewhat paradoxical story of his life, where on the outside, he seemed like any regular quadragenarian man who works a 9 to 5 job and is respected by his colleagues. While on the inside, he has an uncanny secret of his own. Surprisingly, Mitsutaka is fascinated by cute things. As a result, he has an immense interest in collecting cute things. From dolls of Pug Taro characters to anything else that he finds cute, he collects it all.

The Feel-Good Part

The drama was a comic show, and indeed, you get to witness exceptional comedy. It is the type of drama where you hardly care about logic instead, all that matters is good humour – and that is something that this show for sure provides you in abundance. The plot might be silly at many points, but that is precisely what makes it so amusing. Hence, you might ironically be wishing for more silliness in many instances. Further, the friendship between Mitsutaka and Kenta is so delightful. Their chemistry together is superb, and it will give you enormous bliss to finally see Mitsutaka find a friend whom he can trust.

The Disappointing Factor

The relationship between the characters is sometimes unclear. It’s tough to figure out whether it was just a tremendously strong friendship between the men or something else. You will often see that the relationship between the men has this romantic undertone that is exceptionally vivid. Therefore, you might even feel that maybe the writer wanted to attempt on a BL story but had to shift to please a larger audience. Nevertheless, the strong bonds between the men might still make you wish for proper BL story angles.

In-Depth Analysis

This is the drama adaptation of the manga of the same name, written by Tsutomu. The drama is of the finest quality in terms of comedy, which is the primary theme of the drama. Hence, it wouldn’t be wrong to say the drama has been done outstandingly. Even though the drama has a comic plot, unexpectedly, we still can relate to its silliness. From a point, the story can be seen as a depiction of how many times we are afraid of putting forward our true self because of people’s severe judgments. Everyone probably has something that they love but can’t talk about openly. So while you empathise with something, you simultaneously get to watch epic humour that will make your stomach hurt due to laughing so hard.

Star Power

The drama has a magnificent cast that increases the fun by tenfold. The exceedingly experienced ‘Mashima Hidekazu’ plays the role of the prime character of the story. You will see him make you laugh your heart out in the form of Mitsutaka Oji. While ‘Imai Tsubasa’ plays the role of Mitsutaka’s dear friend Kawai Kenta. Besides this, ‘Kiriyama Renn,’ ‘Fujiwara Taiyu,’ ‘Tomita Miu,’ ‘Manaka Ayu,’ etc., are also an essential part of the show.

Overall Opinion

This drama is an excellent option in regards to a comedy show. Anyone can easily enjoy the fun and straightforward storyline. The music might not be that outstanding, but the humour won’t make you care about it at all. This sweet and easy-going show is undoubtedly worth it.
