Drama Digest

Japan’s medical healthcare system has many potholes, but the worst is the lack of experienced and knowledgeable doctors. The doctors already working in the hospital have to work more than their usual timings, it causes difficulties for the doctors to perform their best in their objective of treating patients. The daytime emergency care has already suffered, but the night-time care situation is even more pathetic. But, the Hakuouki Asahi Kaihin Hospital is different. It is creating a reform by making a night-time emergency care system with experienced doctors. Asakura Mitsuki, Naruse Akihito, Fukazawa Arata, Sakuraba Shun and Takaoka Yukiko are the five members of the night doctor team.

The Feel-Good Part

Written by Okita Haruka and directed by Sawada Kensaku and Sekino Munenori, this Japanese drama focuses on some complex situations faced by the doctors to save a patient’s life, which is vital for both the doctor and the patient’s family. The climax was very unexpected, which is one of the prominent highlights of the story. It is one of the supreme medical dramas out there, this will be a viewing pleasure for the viewers. It also focuses on a deep problem of less labour and the negligence of nighttime care.

The Disappointing Factor

The story became determined in the attempt of entertaining the audience with topics like politics which are not in the hands of the doctors. Some details shown are simply inaccurate and unconvincing. There are usual tropes, and there are times when the CGI effect is low in quality. The attempt they make to change the whole medical associations and framework of Japan is way too ambitious, which isn’t so critical in determining the futures of the already made framework. The nighttime doesn’t have many patients, so the need for more doctors is unnecessary.

In-Depth Analysis

This show deeply chronicles the events, helping the patients meet unfortunate accidents in the emergency ward. It is a heartwarming story with good characterization and the emotional spectrum shown in the doctors. They have a balance in the medication, character development, and struggle. There are some well-delivered life morals in between too. This is a good idealistic medical drama with good chemistry between actors.

Star Power

The roles of Dr Sakuraba and Dr Kashima are appreciated by the viewers. Every actor in the form of characters portrays the role of a doctor gracefully with specific medical scenes. There are great actors in the form of doctors that make the supporting characters group, not just mere extra people for the team. The need to change the system already made years ago is focused in the series, and that makes the series important to watch and witness the change made in the fictional show. The need for a nighttime emergency system is alarming.

Overall Opinion

A must-watch for the dramatic plot twists and a gripping storyline.
