Drama Digest

Kekkon Dekinai ni wa Wake ga Aru is an adaptation of a Josei comedy comic. Mariko Goto is a 29 years old girl, who works at an office and dreams of getting married to her ideal man before the age of 30. She has very high standards of men and finds the section chief of her company, Mitsuo Tomizawa, possessing the qualities of her ideal man. Tomizawa is a handsome, tall, and intelligent man. However, he has a secret and isn’t the perfect man, Goto thinks he is. His secret is bizzare, as his secret is that he is in love with his doll, Michiko. Michiko is a cute and lifeless doll, but Mariko finds her chasing her in her dreams and real life. Watch the drama, to find out the reason behind his weird obsession with his doll.

The Feel-Good Part

The plot is not only unique but also very energetic and funny at the same time. The idea that the female lead is the normal one and the male lead is the clumsy and weird one is fresh and different from stereotypical dramas and movies. Mariko wants to get married before turning 30 is known to everyone and the part where the drama shows a countdown on how many days Mariko has before turning 30 years old at the end of episodes is quite funny. Also, the doll, Mitsuko, appears to be cute but chases Mariko in her dreams and in real life, which adds comedy to the drama. The drama is not only funny in the beginning, but it continues to entertain the audience throughout the end.

.The Disappointing Factor

A few people may find the male lead character’s secret weird and uncommon. Falling in love and obsessing over a doll is indeed a little strange.

In-Depth Analysis

Mitsuo does not turn out to be the perfect man, Mariko thinks he has. He has a weird obsession with his doll to cope with his inability to enter a relationship. His character teaches the audience the importance of a hobby, no matter how weird it is, to cope with the struggles in life. Also, Mariko’s attitude and acceptance of Mitsuo’s strange hobby defines true love. The drama is very amusing and entertaining. The plot of the drama is gripping, the opening song is also unique. The opening song is Saikyo by She9, which is a rock song. It perfectly matches the vibe of the drama, which is energetic.

Star Power

Hayami Mokomichi (Mitsuo Tomizawa ) plays the role of the perfect, yet clumsy male lead perfectly. Wakatsuki Yumi (Goto Mariko), too, does justice to her role. Both the actors portray themselves as very charming characters.

Overall Opinion

The acting and the cast do justice to the plot. However, the story itself is unique. Falling in love with a doll does seem a little weird. However, Mitsuo has a reason behind this odd hobby. Watch the drama, if you can look past the weird doll obsession and are looking for a fun romantic comedy.
