Drama Digest
Idolls, the new series! was created by Shin-Ei Animation and directed by ‘Shota Nakano.’ The anime consists of four popular female friends, who seem to be seasoned idols with a massive following. Throughout the anime, they focus on expanding their notoriety by successfully implementing a variety of unjustified plans.
The Feel-Good Part
The storyline is entertaining and straightforward, the characters are endearing, and the episodes are only about eight minutes long but can be hilarious. It’s not meant to be deep and expressive and is intended to be light-hearted and funny.
The Disappointing Factor
The show is nothing extraordinary and the soundtrack is forgettable. It has the tragic combo of CG, music, history, and characters. It continues to fail to consider introducing interesting elements and maintaining a bare minimum of identity. It’s a talking totem freak. The totem breaks through the “story” because it tries unsuccessfully to be told through the narration.
In-depth Analysis
The story is average. Four relatively unknown idols attempt to put on a concert hall of 100 people for ten days, with each scene describing a different aspect of their idols’ daily lives. This animated series is about four best buddies who adore each other and are doing everything in their power to achieve their goals. They started encouraging everyone not to give up despite their failures, which was enough for me. The animation is strange, but it’s unique.
Star Power
This series seems to have four female characters that already graced the show. They are at the center of the entire drama.
Aina is an honest, sincere, and realistic girl who appears to work as the show’s facilitator. She is a warm-hearted and soft-spoken individual. Despite being shocked by all of the members’ crazy ideas, she appreciates and acknowledges their creativity.
Ami: Impulsive and energetic, she cannot stick to one job for long and has worked in many part-time jobs because she gets bored quickly, but collaborating as just an idol will be the only thing she does not get tired of it.
Shiori: Don’t let her cuteness deceive you because her temper is explosive. She avoids undertaking things she needs to do without first reading the room. But her attractive appearance never gets her into trouble. Her cuteness safeguards her from all negative remarks.
Ruka seems to be a mystical young lady who appears intelligent. Although her manner of speaking and visual appeal makes her look smart, her intelligence level is also clearly different from others.
Overall Opinion
It’s going to be an exciting show to watch.I believe it stands to benefit from being a short-episode/runtime show because its sense of humor worked beautifully in quick scenarios. If somehow the series decided to run for the rest of the season, it would have overstayed its welcome. I highly suggest the show to anyone who wants to watch silly professional clichés poked fun at, along with anyone who enjoys pretty innocuous short-episode shows. It’s not looking to dominate any awards, but it’s not going to offend anyone.
