Drama Digest

The manga based japanese drama starts with a lead named Takeuchi Kaoru, a young man who has a special ability. He lives with his mother about whom he finds out that she’s suffering from Alzheimer’s disease. Taking care of his mother along with his dream of becoming a writer which is already influenced by his special ability, that is the experiencing of others thoughts through copying their writing does not seem to work altogether. On top of all that, his mother gets into an accident one day.

A young yakuza makes an offer to Kaoru when he appears in front of him. Fujiwara Tomomi, who went to the same school as Kaoru puts forward a deal. A deal of exchange in which Kaoru takes a university entrance exam for someone and if that person gets into a top university, he gets a hold of a large amount. Though, Kaoru seems to get tangled into what he didn’t ever think of.

The Feel-Good Part

The friendship of Tomomi and Kaoru. Their contrast throughout the episodes is extremely refreshing to have our eyes upon. It’s fun to see how the opened up personality of Tomomi comes in the ground to play with the shyness that Kaoru contains. The undying support they have and that feeling of helping each other out at any moment of them are cherry on top. Not to forget Rei’s character development finally after his furious moments delivering a sense of satisfaction and relief.

The Disappointing Factor

A little disappointing moment that can be seen is the lack of understanding and denial that Rei deals with. How he blames Kaoru for the deed he had done eventually himself, denying at every point while trying to justify that it wasn’t him. Regardless of Kaoru making him realise his own bad doing, he keeps on living in his own little bubble rather than taking time to process and reflect upon when he’s aware he won’t be able to escape it all no matter what.

In-Depth Analysis

As the beginning itself starts on a questionable note, the whole drama is even more. There might be a point which gets a reaction out of you as to what did just happen but just like always it’s all going to make sense. The setting which gives off a retro yet modern vibe sets the mood for the audience and goes really well with everything around. A few of the comedic and sweet moments are included to not let the main concept overpower the plot.

Star Power

The lead role of Takeuchi Kaoru has been played by Nakajima Yuto and Fujimara Tomomi has been played by Mamiya Shotaro. Their impeccable acting skills made those fictional characters come alive commendingly.

Overall Opinion

A story with some deep thinking aspects that are projected captivatingly. It is a perfect match for the viewers who love to watch a psychological thriller as the suspense is maintained throughout the story. Hop in on the ride if you’re ready to get yourself hooked on this production.
