Drama Digest

The Tokyo Metropolitan Police department creates a special department to deal with cybercrimes. The newly created Yubitai department or the keyboard murder office deals mainly with cyberbullying and hate. The department includes Wataru Banjo, who used to be a top dog in department 1 of the police department. The detectives deployed to the new department are different from other police officers. They take their job seriously but are not like those climbing the ladder.

The Feel-Good Part

The OST suits the drama theme well. Cinematography and acting are plus points. The storyline is strong, with each episode focusing on one case but with an underlying plot. The drama is not predictable. Each episode brings new twists and information.

The Disappointing Factor

Usui Sakura doesn’t show any character development. She can come off as the irritating one in many scenes. The limelight is always on Banjo Wataru and Usui. Other characters are a little neglected even though they have great potential.

In-Depth Analysis

The team of the Yubitai department constitutes five members. Koshigaya Shinjiro is the Section Chief. Usui Sakura, Shinomiya Junichi and Suganuma Ririko are police sergeants. Shinomiya Junichi is an expert in cybercrime. Banjo Wataru is an elite police inspector transferred to this department due to an accident in his previous case. Together the team tries to catch those responsible for cyberbullying and crimes leading to suicide most of the time. Banjo and Usui have polar opposite characters and should investigate the cases together in the department. The first case they take up is the suicide of an 18-year-old fashion model. They come across a website called Underground police during the investigation. This website plays a critical role in all the cases they solve, but they are not sure of the intention behind the anonymous person behind it. They solve cases related to fake rumours and hate comments. They also deal with a case where the identity of the assailant of the Mitaka homeless murder is exposed. They also solve the case of a former idol Hirasoka Mio. Her secret extramarital affair leads to threats. The department takes up the kidnapping case of Kunugi Soichiro, an upcoming baseball talent, when his girlfriend starts receiving threatening emails, and she reaches out to the team for help. They also deal with the power harassment case in Kabayama foods company. The department finds more information about the anonymous person in each episode. They are always on the opposite sides of the case. The intention of both of them is to bring justice. The person behind ‘anonymous’ username has an ulterior motive, and the final episode deals with it in detail.

Star Power

Katori Shingo, Shim Eun Kyung, and Sekimizu Nagisa have done an excellent job in acting. All the cast members do justice for their roles even though they have little to no room for character development.

Overall Opinion

The drama is thrilling and intriguing to watch with a story relatable in the current times. It also shows the clashes between two different ideas of justice. The show subtly questions the system about the way of bringing justice.
