Drama Digest

Stick to the Script (师兄,请按剧本来) is a Chinese television series that came out countrywide on its original networks of Tencent Video. Executed under the direction of Lin He Long and produced by Sun Zhong Huai, the drama revolves around the upturned life of Wang Xiao Yu. She enters the world of unknown territory after jumping into the fantasy realm of television.

The Feel-Good Part

The drama series sought inspiration from the comic book series “Brother, Please Follow the Script!” (师兄,请按剧本来!) by Lan Zi (岚梓). The animation is by Fan Qi Animation (番奇动漫). The established popularity of the comic series on the mainland is one of the reasons the producers decided to adapt it into a drama series. Therefore, the viewers can sit back and expect all the feels anticipated in a thriller, romance, and fantasy.

The Disappointing Factor

The drama series consists of forty episodes, with each segment lasting only four minutes. The fans were upset over the extreme fleeting length of the series and had expected better work on the part of the directors.

In-Depth Analysis

A sophomore student, Wang Xiao Yu, studies music at an esteemed prestigious institution. However, she finds her life without spice, full of insignificant moments. To add adventure to her lifeless story, one day, she escapes into the small screen, where time and space differ from her current reality. She meets Xiao Tian Yu, another male figure. What unfolds is the beautiful blossoming of their relationship in an out-of-the-world setting.

Star Power

The starring cast includes Tu Zhi Ying as Wang Xiao Yu, Wang Hao Xuan, Fan Yi Ning as Yu Mu Yan, Song Xiao Ying Zi as Yi Xiao Xiao, Yian Zhi Xian as Liu Liu, Ke Nai Yu as Charm/Lin Hui Er, Zhang Chen Xiao as Devil Emperor/Magic Flute, Zhang Jing Tong as Ao Yu Xin/ Xiao Tian Yu’s mother, and Liu An Qi as Xia Yi Yun.

Overall Opinion

Since the length of each episode is concise, it fits perfectly for short bus or subway rides. Moreover, the female lead falling into the fantastic world of television parallels the story of Alice in Wonderland.
