Drama Digest

The drama revolves around three young and passionate women who share the same name – Huang Li Jao. They even had the same age but came from different backgrounds and cultures. One was born in China, the other one was from Singapore and the third one was from Malaysia. They bumped into each other during an accident and immediately became best friends. They all reside in Singapore now and almost live together. However, they soon realize sharing the same name does not mean that they would also share the same lives. Due to different cultures, backgrounds, teachings, personalities, and languages, they all face various issues and struggles. They also have other considerations, which also affect the life choices that they create. They face different issues when it comes to love, work, family, or self, which results in entirely different fates for each of them.

The Feel-Good Part

The drama explores the themes of love, women empowerment, sisterhood, friendship, and romance and tells us how our life choices can affect our relationship with family, friends, work, etc.

The Disappointing Factor

The show is excellent, besides a few minor flaws. The audience was looking forward to more romantic scenes. A few scenes also lacked realism, which made it a little bit uninteresting.

In-Depth Analysis

At first, the three women did not meet each other on good terms, but eventually, over time, they became terrific and supportive friends. The first, Li Jiao, was born in Singapore and was a lawyer. She is typically cold and lowkey about her career and love life. Her life seemed almost perfect, with a successful career and a relationship almost heading into marriage until she was diagnosed with third-stage cancer. Her life eventually falls apart, as she also loses her job, and her engagement breaks apart. The second, Li Jiao, is from Malaysia. She works very hard, is the eldest daughter, and helps her family, which is back in her home country. She is kind-hearted and loving and falls in love with a guy she met at work. Everything falls on her knees when she realizes she’s pregnant and the father of her child is a married man. The third, Li Jiao, is from China who is a vivacious, outspoken, and straightforward woman. She is subsequently running away from a loveless marriage and her brother’s debts. She prefers a branded lifestyle but often clashes with her own decisions. The three women share their past experiences and journeys and look forward to a bright and bearable future together.

Star Power

The series had a very exciting cast from different countries and backgrounds. Carrie Wong played the role of first Huang Li Jiao (Singapore), Jojo Goh played the role of second Huang Li Jiao (Malaysia), and Jin Meng Yang Zi played the role of third Huang Li Jiao (China). The supporting cast included Andie Chen as Yang Li Wen, Zhang Yao Dong in the role of Li Zhe Yi, Brandon Wong in the role of Huang Qing Fa, and Jeffrey Xu in the role of Sheng Jia Ming.

Overall Opinion

The drama firmly portrayed the importance of sisterhood and friendship. Even when their lives are falling apart, they tend to keep each other happy and provide company. If you are into dramas that have a strong female lead, you’ll surely enjoy this one!
