Drama Digest
The show is about revolutionary changes in China during the early twentieth century. It was one of the most awaited shows. Watch the series to know what led to the May Fourth Movement in 1919 and what happened after it.
The Feel-Good Part
As the drama has historical and contemporary influences, the set design and costumes are stunning.
The Disappointing Factor
The show gets quite dull and slow at some points. The background it is set in might to be confusing to some watchers. Other than that, it is a pretty knowledgeable show.
In-Depth Analysis
Continuing the “Red Boat Spirit,” the story covers the Communist Party of China’s formation, growth, and expansion during ten years, from the May Fourth Movement in 1919 through the triumph in Jinggangshan in 1928. Scholar protests in Beijing sparked the May Fourth Movement in 1919. Chen Du Xiu, the editor-in-chief of the influential “New Youth,” was arrested and imprisoned for his protests against the Beiyang warlord over the treatment of university students. Mao Ze Dong, He Shu Heng, and other persons mobilise in Changsha, a long way away, to launch a rescue campaign. Chen Du Xiu ultimately realised that the only method to shop in China was to topple the ruling authority when he secretly moved to Shanghai, thanks to Li Da Zhao’s efforts. A small organisation of Communist supporters was established in Shanghai to prepare for the convening of a large gathering. The gathering became shifted to a ship on South Lake, Jiaxing, due to police involvement within the French Concession. Pioneers such as Mao Ze Dong, Dong Biwu, Chen Tan Qiu, and other prominent figures laid the ground for the founding of the Communist Party of China.
