Drama Digest
Oh My Lord is a historical Chinese drama that has been adapted from a web novel. The plotline revolves around Bai Li, who is also known as Lord Qian Sui and Chen You You. The two of them are poles opposite from each other and they, went from bickering with each other to falling in love with each other.
The Feel-Good Part
The cute romance and the initial bickering between the leading couple, Lord Qian Sui and Chen You You, look good on-screen. Those who are fans of forced/fake marriage would definitely like this specific C-drama. The series has a lot of cliches that a typical Rom-com Chinese drama offers. If you are a dedicated fan of these genres, you would feel good watching this series.
The Disappointing Factor
There is no major disappointing factor in this drama series. However, the creativity in the plotline is lacking a bit. There are no new angle or storyline that has been explored by the writers of the series. Nothing out of the box has been offered to the audience, apart from the lack of creativity there is not any major faulty factors of ‘Oh My Lord.’
In-Depth Analysis
Lord Qian Sui/ Bai Li is known as ‘The Thousand-year Ice Block’ because of his cold demeanor. He is greatly treasured and relied upon by the City Lord. Bai Li becomes a famous doctor and is considered the most handsome man in Fuxian City. He hides his real identity and poses as a eunuch to find out the truth of an unjust case. Though Bai Li seems cold and arrogant his true heart is quite different from his cold demeanor. He wants nothing but the desired love and a warm family. Chen You You is a quirky girl who wants to live an unrestrained life. She couldn’t live freely as she belongs from a strict family. Chen You You is pretty opposite to Bai Li, and they bicker a lot. The two get married though they were not in love but after getting to know each other, the two fall in love. After falling in love, Bai Li completely changes and becomes crazily protective of Chen You You. This is a story of the two lead couple and their romance in a historical backdrop. There are also other romantic rivals for this leading couple.
Star Power
Ji Mei Han and Luo Zheng play the lead role of Chen You You and Lord Qian Sui/ Bai Li. The other supporting cast includes Hummer Zhang as Cheng Zhu, Martin Zhang as Lord Xian, Chen Ming Hao as Qi Sheng Wen, Yang Yi Mo as Jiang Bi Han, Hu Wei as Gu Tian He, Zhu Mei Ji as Xiao Tiao, etc. There are also guest appearances by many actors such as Chen Teng Yue, Wu Jiao and Wei Jin Song.
Overall Opinion
Oh My Lord is an average series that lose the interesting and entertainment element after the few initial episodes. The acting was pretty good, and even the plot was okay for a fluffy romantic comedy genre. There might be a possibility of a second season as the ending was a Cliffhanger. Overall, you may watch the series once, but definitely, it is not a re-watchable series.
