“My Girlfriend is an Alien” is a Chinese drama, initially released in 2019. The second season of the show aired in 2022. The storyline of the series follows an alien girl named Chai Xiaoqi who came from “Cape Town Planet.” She comes to earth and meets a CEO named Fang Leng. He suffers from a syndrome called “heterosexual amnesia on rainy days.” Chai Xiaoqi accidentally loses her spaceship and is stuck on earth.
The Feel-Good Part
“My Girlfriend is an Alien” has been the most popular drama ever since the release of season 1 in 2019. This season gained even more recognition because of its elevated storyline. The 2nd lead couple was also mesmerizing to watch. The cinematography and effects also improved in this season. There was no dull moment, and it was a heartwarming and sweet romance. Though the first season was focused on the lead characters’ amnesia, the second season was primarily about romance and relationships.
The Disappointing Factor
The only disappointing, rather irritating part of this drama is the entry of the third character in the Love triangle, Jiang Shi Yi.
In-Depth Analysis
In the 2nd season of “My Girlfriend is an Alien” as a sequel, Xiao Qi, along with Fang Leng, experiences another set of adventures on earth. Chai Xiao Qi and Fang Leng was about to get married and just when she was about to say “I do,” a being from her planet who was once her perfect match, Jiang Shi Yi, enters and takes her away. She somehow escapes and returns to earth. But while doing so, she enters the wrong wormhole. Soon after, she wakes up next to Fang Leng again. But this time, he does not recognize at she is. She has traveled a year back in time. He’s not interested in her anymore, so she tries to win him back. She tries everything to her capability, but he keeps pushing her away.
Star Power
Bie Thassapak Hai, the lead actor, has gained the most viewers because of his attractive nature. His acting was on point and portrayed the character of Fang Leng wonderfully. Wang Peng, as the female lead, also provided exciting visuals. She was perfect for the character of the alien. The supporting cast also added flavor to the story.
Overall Opinion
This drama is a perfect go-to for a sweet rom-com. This will work on both your happy and sad days and can lift your mood. There is excessive sweetness and romance that overflows, this is a must-watch for all rom-com fans and certainly would not disappoint.
