Drama Digest:

A dangerous accident entirely changes the life of ardent and vibrant Gu Chuan, causing him to suffer lethal heart injuries. Although his life is miraculously saved when his heart is replaced with a mechanical heart, nothing is the same anymore. He can no more resume living his ordinary life because if he feels strong emotions or his heartbeat rises, and he might end up being dead. Consequently, Gu Chuan gradually loses his optimism towards life. However, the story takes an interesting turn when he meets Jiang Xiao Ning – a walking bundle of positivity and joy, even after the miseries she’s gone through. Her presence starts changing his life but will his condition allow them to be together?

The Feel-Good Part:

The best element of the show will be Xiao Ning’s smile. Her character is exceptionally heartwarming and encourages you to feel happy about life, regardless of how bad your situation might be. It teaches you not to lose hope even in the darkest days. Bluntly speaking, Xiao Ning will make you fall in love with her innocence and boldness in such a way that you’ll have this newfound energy to giggle and bounce around with positive vibes even if you have broken ribs. Further, you get to witness beautiful friendships among the characters, which is comforting. They are always there for each other. For instance, how Cheng Ran keeps tabs on Gu Chuan’s heart rate so that he can help him if he’s ever in some difficulty.

The Disappointing Factor:

The biggest turn-off is that despite the drama starting great, it eventually starts feeling stretched and draggy. What is more annoying is that in the mid the story feels so slow but the last episodes where explanations were needed, feel somewhat rushed. The storyline occasionally seems slightly lame – like getting locked up on the rooftop. Another drawback would be how, at a point, it feels like the side actors gain more attention than the main leads. The second leads probably shared more kisses than the main couple.

In-Depth Analysis:

This drama might seem like any other regular boss-employee Chinese romance drama. But it indeed isn’t; it instead has a very exhilarating sci-fi touch to it. The storyline is primarily based on the concept of healing and the idea of being there for each other. The drama follows the story of Xiao Ning, who is compared to a crow for bearing misfortune, and Gu Chuan, who is personified as a lizard because of his unsocial behavior, which occurs due to his special heart conditions.

Star Power:

The cast includes many famous Chinese actors. Xing Fei and Allen Ren play the role of Jiang Xiao Ning and Gu Chuan, respectively. It is their first drama together; still, the chemistry is commendable. Surprisingly, this is Allen’s first urban romance drama, so it’s refreshing to see him in this role. While on the other hand, Xing Fei has often played the typically ‘bubbly girl’ role, and her work indeed showcases experience. The supporting cast which includes ‘Wayne Liu,’ ‘Chloe Zhao,’ ‘Ge Shi Min,’ etc. Has also done a great job in portraying their characters.

Overall Opinion:

This show is, without any doubt, an excellent pick for any rom-com lover. Neither does it fails to make you blush or feel shy over the cute, lovey-dovey moments, nor is it unsuccessful in making you roll on the floor, laughing. Also, the beautiful OST is just like the icing on the cake, intensifying the fun to another level.
