We've put together a list of our favorite ten Japanese LGBTQ-themed films and series that have gained the attention of Japanese and abroad audiences. These movies have helped shape the new idea and acceptance of Japan's acceptance of LGBTQ people. Here are the top 10 Japanese movies on LGBTQ theme:
10. Kamisama No Ekohiiki
Genre: Comedy, Drama, Fantasy
Yashiro visits a secluded shrine every day for 100 days straight to gain the confidence to confess to her crush. That earns him the attention of the shrine deity, Ukon, who decides to follow him on his 100th day to see how the confession turns out. However, Ukon is surprised that Yashiro confesses to a guy, his long-time friend Kenta, who turns him down. Although heartbroken, Yashiro jokes around with Kenta. Later Yashiro gets killed in an accident with a truck. Yashiro wakes within the presence of the shrine God and Ukon, who offers to send him back to life and give him another chance with Kenta. In doing so, the god sends him back to be reborn as a high-school girl. However, she soon discovers that God and Ukon plan to watch over her relationship.

Middle-aged corporate guy Minato Akira quits his job to inherit his grandfather's coin laundry. One day, he meets a high-school student, Katsuki Shintaro, who visits the coin laundry. They quickly become friends, despite the age differences. However, Shintaro finds out Akira is gay.

Sleep, wake up, and work- summing up the daily life of 39-year-old Nozue, who is facing a mid-life existential crisis, with a routine that eases him and also weights him down. That worries his hard-eyed and reliable subordinate, Togawa, a 29-year-old. In a turn of events, they visit a pancake shop bustling with girls. This story got adapted from a manga by Sagan Sagan, "Old Fashioned-Cupcake.
6. Kimi No Koto Dake Mite Itai
Genre: Drama
Nagase Yuma and Asakura Sakura are childhood best friends who have been together since elementary school. In the final summer of high school, they must start thinking about college and their future until Sakura confesses her feelings to Yuma with a kiss.

Fudanshi Bartender is a Japanese BL comedy drama. The main character, a bartender, hides his secret obsession with BL, constantly dreaming about his male customers and coworkers. This surprising discovery leads to chaos and outburst of parents.
