Drama Digest
A romantic adventure story involving an uninhibited and flirtatious master of the old martial arts and a loyal but arrogant apprentice. Their feuds, grievances, and tension have stirred up the endgame of the old martial arts.
The Feel-Good part
Staying in truth with the original web novel it explores deeply into the past of our main character, Chu Xiewei, and main love interest Ye Fusheng. It plays with your emotions with its amazing storyline, side cast, and backstory.
The Disappointing Factor
The amount of screentime that delves into side arcs that do not involve the main leads could have been shorter to fit in more of the chemistry between main leads. Although being under the tag of a romantic drama, it does not constantly revolve around it.
In-Depth Analysis
This drama is based on a Martial Arts novel “Sealing knife” by author Qingshan Huangzhong on the Martian Girl site. This drama has everything from complex family relationships, interconnecting storylines, revenge, and traumatic past life. The old feud resulted in the forever separation of humans and heaven. Having witnessed the death of his wife at the hands of the master of the Soul Burial Palace, head of the evil forces of the martial arts, Helian Yu, Gu Xiao has a last wish, to end the old feud.
Star Power
A handsome character deserves to be portrayed by a handsome person so director Cypress stars veteran actor Yang Zhi Gang as the lead.
Overall Opinion
If you love the wuxia genre, this drama would be the ideal roller-coaster of emotions. Having problems of its own like indulging in a storyline that is completely unrelated to the main leads, it has its perks as well. From getting emotional over philosophy and having handsome leads, this drama would leave you having mixed feelings about it.
Although having a binge-able number of episodes, if you loved the drama, you would surely love to check out all 216 chapters of the novel.
