Drama Digest

Sailor Moon eternal is a Japanese animated action fantasy film based on the Sailor Moon manga. The film had two parts, each having 80 minutes. The movie shows Japan in a festive mood during the month of April when Tokyo is filled with cherry blossoms and is celebrating the largest total solar eclipse of the century. Besides that, The Sailor Guardian’s adventures also unfold. It is the time when the New Moon covers the sun it gradually becomes dark. Usagi Chibi-Usa meets Pegasus who is searching for the chosen maiden who can break the seal of the golden crystal. Meanwhile, a strange troop called “The dead moon circus” appears in town. The plan was to scatter nightmare incarnations which are known as ‘lemures’ so that they can get their hands on the legendary silver crystal and rule the Moon and Earth and finally the entire universe.

The Feel-Good Part

Sailor Moon is originally a 90’s classic anime. This version of the movie is a good combination with the Sailormoon crystal. The character designs and visuals are outstanding, as always. It is colorful and the art style is amazing. The story dynamics and pacing are all satisfactory. They adapted the two parts of the movie from the dream Arc in the Manga and are one of the best from the whole Sailor Moon arc. Sailor Moon provides enjoyment despite the many flaws that are there.

The Disappointing Factor

As the movies adapted from an Arc from the Sailor Moon series, the movie adaptation having a short run time is a drawback. The pacing of the show is rapid in some parts and needs full attention to not miss any important details. And for the new viewers of Sailor Moon, it might be a little confusing as it requires some information on the back story before watching this movie. The second part of the movie seems underdeveloped as they made it within a limit and there is a rash in editing and enhancement.
