Tempting Hearts (有一点动心) is a bubbly, romantic comedy that hit the theaters screens on the 4th of June, 2021. Running over a running time of an hour and thirty-four minutes, Tempting Hearts remains executed to perfection by the director and screenwriter, Gordon Chan. It centers around two lovebirds, Zhou Qi Wen and Chen Ran, whose adventures start through a blind dating app.

The Feel-Good Part

Although the film begins with a revenge motive, love sparks fly between the couple as they become aware of each reality. This movie is a suitable start to what to expect from blind dating, showing the advantages of a natural attachment. It enables the audience to question the circumstances of their relationships and how they developed. Moreover, it is exhilarating to expose one’s eyes to the visuals of the leads

The Disappointing Factor

The film hits a low point when some scenes do not contribute to the overall plotline of Tempting Hearts. Fans have pointed out the unnecessary inclusion of rowdy men in the story, taking away the aim to spread cheerful vibes.

In-Depth Analysis

Chen Ran put her best efforts into trying to kick start her personal business through an app that sets up people on blind dates. Called Good Match Tech (良人科技), she even persuades a family couple in the park to take part in the program. However, everything goes downhill when a group of six men, including Zhou Qi Wen, disrupt her primary server, making her suffer a considerable loss. Meanwhile, Zhou Qi Wen faces the troubles of his own maladies, recently having broken up with his girlfriend. The two meet, and Chen Ran realizes him as one of the perpetrators who wrecked her server. She decides to set the four up with dates except for Zhou Qi Wen, secretly hatching a plot to take revenge. However, as the two get close and hang out every day, they know intimate things about each other, leading to a beautiful bond.

Star Power

To portray a genuine relationship between the characters, the directors took their sweet time selecting the cast of Tempting Hearts. The line-up includes Jerry Yan as Zhou Qi Wen, Ren Su Xi as Chen Ran, L Guang Jie, Wan Qian, Xin Zhi Lei, Na Wei, Qi Wei, Ada Liu, Andrew Lien, Carmen Tong, Li Qin Qin, Wang Yi Ning.
